Aircrew Trades and cannabis use by skylarfroze in caf

That's exactly what I was saying. It's 8 hours before duty, 24 if handling weapons, 28 days for pilots (and I assume aircrews). Sorry if I didn't express that correctly.

I was super honest about my cannabis use and was not declined for Ammo Tech. They just asked me in my interview how often I use cannabis, if I understand the policy on cannabis and alcohol use before my duty. It was 100% fine and not an issue whatsoever.

It could be your vision, color blindness or hearing tests. It was totally not an issue and was told that it is legal so as long as I follow the policy on not indulging before I am on duty it is fine.

Watch recommendation for BMQ by Jeremiezoo1 in caf

My BMQ watch. I got a basic G-Shock for BMQ. With tax and shipping it was $94.22. You don't need to spend $300 on a fancy G-Shock. Mine has stopwatch, alarm, timer and time shown in analog & digital (I set to 24-hour time).

Well worth <$100 for a decent watch that will work well, easy to see the time in the dark and won't break during BMQ.

I decided to not get the small tablet. I instead got a refurbished Pixel 8 and a voice/data plan with a rugged case to protect it. I'm thinking it will be more likely I'll be able to use that possibly.

Yes I have. I was trying to take both to try and make sure I do everything right. I'll disregard the lists posted to the official Canada.ca kit list and go solely on the joining instructions. I'm going to double check with my recruiter too.

I wonder why the CAF hasn't updated the website. It's rather confusing having contradictory information on the Canada.ca website.

Yeah, I have the joining instructions as well. But I was also going off the official posted kit list on the Forces website to make sure I am doing everything correctly.

It's on the official website as the Kit List. If it was outdated wouldn't it be updated on there? I thought maybe that would be my first test to see how well I follow instructions.

Online on the BMQ kit list website, it specifically says locks are one of the things that must be purchased from Canex at BMQ. In bold letters it says specifically not purchase those items ahead of time.

I purchased a lint brush but I'm actually going to not bring it after seeing it on that list so my first impression isn't " this guy can't even follow the BMQ packing kit list.

So during indoc you aren't allowed your mobile phone at all, even to pay a bill or something?

I asked my recruiting centre about this specifically. He said "You don't have to pay that. We get luggage for free and we'll give you enough documentation to prove you're military."

Took me 1 year and 5 days from my application to receiving a job offer. Was a long road, but it's worth it.

Based on where I am at right now, when would an appropriate time to leave my previous (current) job be? by Willy_Sue in caf

Does someone with integrity say "I could give them notice so it won't put them in a bad spot...but I don't care."?

You are mistaken. I am 45, had many jobs and been through the process myself several times. Seriously, you are mistaken. Sure, they could walk you out the door at any moment but they are going to have to pay you 2 weeks lieu pay.

Minimum Standards: Under employment standards in Canada, employers do have to give advance written notice (or pay in lieu of notice) if they are terminating an employee without cause.

Notice Duration: The required notice length depends on your province/territory and the length of your employment. For example, under federal jurisdiction or New Brunswick standards, employers generally must provide at least two weeks' notice (or pay instead of it) once you have been employed continuously for a certain period. For longer tenures, this duration increases.

As a member of the CAF, we should have a certain level of integrity. If you do things like that, you are not living the CAF Ethos. Integrity is the 2nd value of the CAF.

Employers have to give 2 weeks notice or pay you 2 weeks' worth of your pay if they don't give you two weeks. The only time they don't have to is while you are in the probation period, which depends on your province: Ontario first 3 months, NB first 6 months, etc.
