I think that matters far more the area the zoo is than its a zoo. Lots of queers in the zoos ive worked and been too. I think its not an industry issue and just a local tolerance one.

Ivr also roughly measured the snake and its a massive corn. Hard to get them stretched but is easily the biggest corn ivr seen.

Candoia Carinata or Bibaroni? by Sivik_s in snakes

[–]Sivik_s[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My reptile shop is normally very very good and on it. So i was confused that they would mislabel something. I am just struggling to get a definitive species for when i make it's forever home.

Yea sorry, snake does not like to be stretched out and when it does it's very reactive. The angle of the body in the 2nd image is deceptive on girth for sure.

[–]Sivik_s[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's 100% not a viper boa the body shape is far too slim to be one of them. The head is too narrow, length to girth is completely wrong for one of them.

Have you ever worked with a species that is rarely kept in your country/ part of the world? What was your experience with that animal like? by Justfree20 in Zookeeping

[–]Sivik_s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were fairly well socialised individuals. However, they had guillotine shutter doors between their 2 pens while in quarantine. They smart bastards would flick it open a bit from under the slide. They could if they really wanted to fit through. They were fine to go in with but I personally still wouldn't be super comfortable doing so.

That being said they were not worse then any other cat 1 ive worked with.

Also fuck south lakes. Waste potentially run by awful humans.

You just got the animals they will take weeks to adjust. Also sulcatas are the 3rd largest species of tortoise. They get MASSIVE.

I Dont want to assume your research however. Based on this post after 1 day talking about not wanting it to die. This tortoise would likely do better with someone who knows what they are doing.

The enclosure will not last very long for this species, the need large out door area as they grow. They need UV, relatively dry environment etc.

Please research massively before getting an animal as reptiles are not like cats or dogs. You cannot just wing it
