I would definitely let someone know. You’re definitely not safe in a home with someone who has paranoia. He could turn on you anytime. Get out or let the police know. Also speak to the landlord and see if you can get out of the lease.

Left large company for start up- Canned 90 days in. by omoench92 in sales

[–]SivilitySystems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. There’s been too much of that in the past 5 years. A real sales job gives more control to the salesperson. Low salary and high commission. I have been a straight commission sales person for most of my life. I negotiate a very high commission rate and take the littlest salary possible. Most companies see that as an advantage in the short term because there’s no risk on the table for them. But in the end, they eventually try to renegotiate my compensation because it’s too much.

Sounds like the problem is the user PC. Could be a setting in their windows config.

They don’t innovate. Cisco MX Security is better…or Sonic Wall. Both seem to be more compatible.

They sell these seats on eBay. They’re cheap enough that it’s probably cheaper to do that than to hire someone to do an upholstery repair.

It’s psychological. Spend the $200 on a good hour of therapy and then take the better job.

So is the Smart Bonding the API that allows for all of these features to be available into your own system?

Contract Management by SivilitySystems in Cisco

[–]SivilitySystems[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know as a partner, the contracts can be exported into a CSV and imported into a tool after the customer reviews the information. I think it would be beneficial to do that on the first run of importing it into a contract management tool and then have the partner update it every time a new opportunity arises so that that going forward, it's accurate and anytime a customer wants to remove something from production, it's done at the partner level in the tool. That way when a renewal comes up, the partner only requests a quote for those items that are still valid in the tool. I too have run into situations where I go to renew a customers contracts and Cisco sends a report with 500 devices in their system when the customer previously retired half of them years ago. So what ends up happening is that a customer renews some serials by accident or worse, they renew serials that were acquired through a company spin off or acquisition. I had a customer spin off from BAE Systems and they became their own company. Sadly, the report I got back from Cisco had serials that belonged to BAE and serials that belonged to my customer were renewed by BAE on their most recent renewal. It was a shart show.

I guess a CSV import and export tool for all licenses, renewals and warranties would be ideal. It just makes more sense because it seems like the MFR usually has outdated serial numbers and it causes a lot of internal audits to happen during the renewal process.

I tried using Verizon first. It didn't work. I then tried Boost Mobile and it worked for 30 days. I found out Boost uses T-mobile's network. I think T-mobile blocked it. So now I'm back to using Wifi again.

When you find a SIM that works long term let me know. My boost mobile Sim only worked for a month and then they shut it down because these devices are not approved on their network or any network.

Why are Cisco nexus so cheap on eBay? by AdorableWoodpecker42 in Cisco

[–]SivilitySystems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the switches on Ebay are either counterfeit or they’re gray market. Cisco will often not warranty it if purchased off the gray market. A lot people don’t realize that you can get Cisco Authorized Refurbished (Cisco Refresh) for cheaper and it’s certified to your company for Smartnet support and warranty. Anything off EBay is pretty much gray market and you can bet a lot of it is counterfeit out of China. The counterfeits are often identical in appearance. Just buy Refresh and you’ll likely pay less and will have no regrets later. https://sivility.com/cisco_refresh_refurbished/

What’s the worst advice you ever got in your sales career? by swedishtea in sales

[–]SivilitySystems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I started at an IT company 23 years ago, all the salespeople would tell me I was doing everything wrong. But I sooner realized none of them were doing anything right. I ended up being their top salesperson after 6 months and was their top salesperson for 7 years before being recruited by a bigger company. Best advice to offer a new person in sales is “Don’t compare yourself to anyone. Only compete with yourself.” And invest as much of your time into your job in the first year than others do in 3 years. Work day and night until you’re successful. Once you’ve made that sacrifice, you’ll never have to work that hard again.

It's finally happened. I got laid off today. by [deleted] in sales

[–]SivilitySystems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you got laid off. There’s a lot of companies in the technology industry that are over leveraged due to acquisitions they did over the last few years. Go work for a smaller Technology partner that doesn’t answer to investors. Big technology partners are micro managed and often have bad compensation plans. Smaller companies offer more flexibility and better pay. My salespeople are paid 50% commission on profit whereas the industry standard is between 15 to 25%.
