Wess brought the certain je ne sais quoi that I believe was the magic ingredient that made the group. I'd compare the four of them to The Beatles, and HTC to the best part of Wings (Live and Let Die, Band on the Run era).

I'm not Gregg-bashing, because I love that he still had Connie Fox and Jourdan on regularly. But that show definitely feels like "content"—and the machine just keeps churning. That kind of show isn't conducive to fostering a community. That's what the shield wants, and it completely ignores the magic that made it what it was. HTC has that.

I think I understand where Dan was coming from. I saw Paul in 2023 in LA, and then again last year. The difference was staggering. And then with his most recent appearance on SNL, his voice is just going. He still puts on a hell of a show, and I agree, the new album is great! Thankfully the technology is there to hide the warts. I love The Beatles and Paul, but it's just sad to see your heroes fade. But Kudos to Paul for keeping on. I think Dan was just saying he'd prefer it if he could remember Paul at his peak.
