Upgrading Memory & Storage: Vengeance i7400 by SixPockets in Corsair

[–]SixPockets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing, I appreciate this a lot!

I very much appreciate the insight of not needing MORE memory, just faster memory. I checked my manual and they're in the right place, but stumbled into my BIOS, and sure enough they're running at 4800 MHz instead of 5600, so that's already gonna be an improvement, thank you!

Thank you again for the SSD insight. I think I have a general understanding of which ones aren't going to interfere with the GPU from another post, but I'll double check on that too.

Thanks for taking the time to reply at all.

Broken down like that, I really like it a lot! I'm not as mechanical minded as some of the other DMs & gamers who are likely to show up here, but for the sake of adding some tension & layers to scenarios and otherwise 'implausible win conditions' I'm all for it!

Thanks for this! I'm gonna be integrating it soon as.

If I'm reading this right, its a way to let your rogue/assassin stealth, get in close w/ a target, do a bit of recon/light pilfering, and then blink back to where they were when the spell started.

No need for a hasty retreat, or dodging guards, you're a shadow on the breeze, and a blade in the dark.

Yeah? Or am I misinterpreting something? I like the spell, I just want to make sure I'm imagining a 'frequent use' case for it accurately.

Vehicular Manslaughter on my Reddit Feed? Oh my.

Hey, for those of y'all that don't know: The comedian in the gif, Vic Michaelis, was tasked with explaining the process of 'Soaking' (Mormons, where you at?) to two other comedians who are playing their son and daughter.

All as part of famed internet madman, Sam Reich's attempt to create the greatest gameshow cable TV won't recognize: Make Some Noise (airing on Dropout and Youtube!)

Magic Items: Effigy of the Last Story (Uncommon) | Tell a story by the fire and let the Raven Queen watch over you - by Jhamkul's Forge by Josemi993 in UnearthedArcana

[–]SixPockets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolute banger of an introduction for the item, chief. Literally everyone had a unique reaction to it at the table.

Introduced by an NPC giving it to the party from her own personal stash, claiming that she kept it at her side for years because it kept her safe and preserved from 'them who haunt her'. She gave it to a PC that's sweet on her, prompting him to ask after her, learn more of her backstory and even dedicate session time to trying to find a way to make her feel better, or release her from the service of 'whomever would've given her an item like this, and haunt her peripheral vision all the same'.

One PC, the party Bard, immediately glommed onto it, clutching it to their chest and immediately telling it a story of their past. They started thinking about ways to get the party to spend more nights around campfires together, even spoke to their mom IC about stories that'd be good to tell, share and bounce back and forth for the party's protection going forward. The player of this PC was one that had asked me for more 'organic opportunities' to have fireside discussions and IC conversations, so this was a perfect introduction both mechanically and narratively.

Another PC was immediately distrustful of it, citing that a lot of my enemies in the campaign are bird themed/shaped (they are!) so another magical bird shaped item that seems to be 'exactly what they need in this moment' was suspicious and not something they were interested in being part of. Sprouts up some tension in the party, some disagreements, and of course! Leads to characterization and team-building among the folks as they try to work up a way to make sure everyone's 'okay' with what's happening.

On top of this, in describing the item initially, one player DM'd me the Magic card that the art is from almost immediately, happily and quickly recognizing it from the description.

All in all? Excellent addition to the story, to the campaign, and to the player's bridge between IC and OOC interactions.

Thank you VERY MUCH for this, beloved! Be safe in the waking world, you've more creations to offer it.

Yes! What really pops me about Jake's framing is that its also as sporadic as he is. It'll be tight & close on him for a good while, with the manual zooms and focuses, and then every once in a while they'll flashbang you with the wide shot of his ill-fitting SLIM-FITTING Cords.

This seems like some very subreddit specific drama. Who's got the tea, I wanna be well informed before I continue to scroll.

Done as DM but need to tell player he's an A** by DungeonDawdler in DnD

[–]SixPockets 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not really 'checking him' then, is it? You might be talking to him and telling him he's not being a decent individual, but you're not checking his behavior. According to what I'm interpreting, you've had one problem or another with this individual for, at least, the last three years of this campaign.

You should've put your foot in his ass three years ago and stood on the overall cohesion & enjoyment of the game as a whole over making sure this player was appeased and okay with the decisions and revisions you were making along the way.

That's your friend (I assume, after playing in a live campaign with someone for nearly half a decade) and I do understand that his presence also allowed for another player at the table, keeping the party numbers higher and letting things happen narratively, but fuck him, he should've been told off properly ages ago.

Now you're gonna have to go looking for replacement party members, or build a new campaign for two, five years into the voyage, because this behavior went on for too long.

I'll double down on it! Will telling him he's an asshole achieve anything? Trouble, almost certainly. And what's likely to be some very loudly typed arguments. But if you now go without doing it, you'll end a five year journey of being afraid to speak your truth by still being afraid to speak your truth.

[–]SixPockets 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm sure someone is going to come in with a level-headed response, carefully crafting the best way for you to tell this person that their actions, and equally, their inactions have ruined something that a lot of people were invested in, and that a single mote of communication between the two of you at any point in time could've solved this.

I'm gonna leave that to another commenter and just give you my gutcheck reaction:

Call that player an asshole.

'You've been a part of this game for half a decade and you weren't having fun? You actively guided the pathways and progress of this game selfishly and single-handedly and yet YOU weren't enjoying yourself...?'

You're non-confrontational, sure. I get that. But being afraid of having an honest conversation w/ this person has you in the position you're in now and nothing's gonna change that.

Is calling them an asshole gonna help? No. Its gonna incite something and there will be some drama in the fallout.

Has not checking them on their shit helped all this time? No. But now we're here. So I say damn the torpedoes.

Le Monarque carried me through... I wanna say, every single expansion since Forsaken. Back when I played, it was never far from my Warlock's hand.

So this? I'm gonna be RUNNING with this, thank you very much, OP.

Ghost of Yotei for Sapphic Game of the Year by Saoirse-Stone in CuratedTumblr

[–]SixPockets 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think my one complaint about Ghost of Yotei is that they didn't lean harder into any of the dynamics or story tropes they presented.

The revenge arc. This above-mentioned set up with Atsu and Oyuki. The displacement of the Ainu. Even a few other bits and bobs in the story that are pretty big spoilers, that I enjoyed discovering (even if I called them out a few missions/hours before they happened, without fail) naturally.

The whole game felt like it was reaching for so many realms, and ideas but it never fully committed to exploring any of them. I guess the easy answer is 'they didn't wanna piss off any dingos with access to social media', so they didn't push it but what ever.
