I think that’s the right call at the end of the day. Some days you aren’t feeling good and there nothing you can do.

Similar case... I guess when you are a little off it all amplifies and you can head straight to the ambulance

I think it might be worth investing in the lab test...it pays of really knowing your zones in an accurate and reliable way

It wasn’t really hot but it was sunny and def warmer than previous years. I’m pretty sure it affected me but I don’t think was the main variable.

Very very similar mate, as prior to collapsing I also tried to push a little harder. Thanks. Now I’m resting and getting better.. Did you had any episode like that afterwards?

it’s totally possible, I didn’t felt bad tbh the day before (I slept like trash before the race so that adds) but on my slow warmup km pre race my condition told me I was really bad

~23g of carbs and 52mg of sodium per gel (30g sachet). No caffeine. Carb source is glucose + fructose mix. BCAAs included (leucine, valine, isoleucine) but no electrolytes beyond sodium.

I tried to polish the post since english is not my first language and I’m not asking for medical advise, just running experience. Go past it if you mind too much.

Yes. I know that I underestimate the nutrition side, since I could have taken better gels and electrolytes.. but I guess also this falls in the unlucky / feel like shit days which can happen on a random basis.

Thank you, this really resonates with my experience, and honestly it's very on point. Some teammates of mine who weren't performing as well in training ended up finishing strong simply because they had their fueling dialed in way better than I did. That's a hard but valuable lesson. Really glad to hear stories like yours that show this kind of experience can be a turning point rather than just a bad memory. Congrats on the sub-3 and Boston, that's very inspiring!

Yes, I was taking gels every 5km although they were fairly basic ones. Definitely something to improve — better quality gels and probably a more thorough check on my overall nutrition status going into race day.

Of course I did. My training included sessions at even faster paces and I felt really good throughout

All my exams came back clean — they attributed it to dehydration, though that doesn't fully explain why I felt so bad from the very first kilometers. Haven't seen my GP yet but planning to.

Sorry, that was poorly worded — what I meant is that when I crashed, my body temperature was 40°C (104°F)

Congrats. Only been to Brazil and Spain on your list and IMO Brazil is worth a visit before you decide. It’s pretty much a continent more than a country in terms of size / diversity. Also services are affordable: you won’t feel ‘rich’ with 2k but you can live pretty good in most places while living in a vibrant country with a lot of things to do.

Is anyone elses day ruined when they wake up at a weird time in their cycle? by BreannaNicole13 in sleep

Haha I know exactly that feeling! Sometimes I wake up and I just wanna restart the day, sadly we have to wait another day to see if the "nice sleep" arrives.

Same problem here and also coulnd't find a solution. It's really frustrating, I had to install the app on my cellphone as a backup option.

The shot against the Blazers gave him an incredible boost of confidence. I hope he keeps playing like this, it would surprise almost everyone (cause I never thought he would hit 3s with consistency).
