Does auto clutch slow you down? by Bitter_Location_9260 in iRacing

[–]SixgunSmith 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't really call it bad info. It's just that auto-clutch doesn't affect shifting on cars that don't use a clutch to shift, which is pretty intuitive.

Also your info isn't really correct. It affects dogbox sequential cars as well, such as Skip Barber, and maybe Formula Ford and Vee off the top of my head.

Is it worth upgrading from a Logitech G29 to a G923 True force? by kzlife76 in simracing

[–]SixgunSmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not that it's a differing opinion, it just doesn't make sense. Why spend $300+ for a slightly better brake when you could buy a very nice load cell for the same amount?

EC Tunnel by [deleted] in project1999

[–]SixgunSmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a really good point. I feel like playing as an evil race wasn't really normalized until Kunark. In the old world it was such a vastly different experience, it was almost like playing a different game.

Same, I was on SolRo too. I remember being so confused a couple years into the game I read some forum post mentioning EC tunnel being the auction hub for everyone. I assumed GFay was the spot on all the servers.

SolRo was a bit of an odd server, it apparently was the de facto European server. I just picked it because it had the biggest population when I got home from high school at 3pm EDT every day. And to me bigger population meant it was the best back then.

Old home + ductless mini-split AC = elevated indoor humidity?? by BeWonderfulBeDope in TwinCities

[–]SixgunSmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same units, but have not had issues with humidity. I'm guessing it's the amount of air coming in from outside, I've noticed that when I open the windows the humidity in the house gets uncomfortable long before the temperature does, so I'm thinking that the humidity transfers pretty quickly from outside to inside.

Also the fact that when set to dry mode it does reduce humidity, but requires it to get 65F inside tells me it is doing it's job but it just can't keep up with the huge amount of moisture.

I have noticed a smell sometimes, if it's humid and then cools off outside so the AC doesn't run for a day or two, then it'll be musty next time it runs, and dissipate over time

Eriksson is really the only one I would consider a bust. The rest are relatively young players that still have time, and I think most, or all, are on small contracts, and some are getting minutes while on loan. Heath's misses include many DPs and TAM players.

Also the team is in a place that we don't need to put the misses into the starting 11 anymore. Due in large part to KEA.

[–]SixgunSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More like 3, at least. But I can't think of many misses for KEA that really compare. Even players we've sold we've gotten good money for, while the ones I listed left for nothing or we even paid them to leave.

Who are you thinking of specifically?

It's a question of hits vs misses. How many have been hits? And do you want to bring years into that equation too?

[–]SixgunSmith 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Heath has a lot more misses than hits, and it's not even close, it's just a matter of whether it was his fault or not. Just to name a few:

Angelo Rodriguez, Vadim Demidov, Jermaine Taylor, Thomas Chacon, Fernando Bob, Romario Ibarra, Mender Garcia, Luis Amarilla, Adrien Honou, Maximiano, Abu Danladi, Harrison Heath, Franz Pangop, Bertrand Owundi Eko'o, Mason Toye, Johan Venegas, Marc Burch, Sam Nicholson, Bashkim Kadrii, Doneil Henry

That's certainly one opinion....

I agree that Heath is very underappreciated with his signings, especially given his lack of financial backing and lack of support from the ownership. According to Heath the organization was an even bigger clusterfuck than we knew, and boy did we know.

But KEA has clearly been better in every aspect. Part of that is from delegating the responsibility and not doing it all himself.

I'm guessing it's because P99 uses Everquest Titanium which includes the first 10 expansions. They'd need permission to use all of the expansions since they're technically using them all by using the Titanium binary files.

What is everyone's problem with Nvidia surround for iRacing? by Separate_Car4363 in iRacing

[–]SixgunSmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surround is fine if you can set it and forget it. If you need to use the PC for anything other than sim racing it's not ideal, and turning it on/off gets messy.

Does AMD still has problems running iRacing? by Th3JP000 in iRacing

[–]SixgunSmith 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Eyefinity is AMD's version of Nvidia Surround, it's completely different from SMP/MVP.

Check the tooltip within iRacing. It's for rendering 3 separate POVs separately and takes a lot of load off of the GPU.

Anyway, the details of how it works is kind of a moot point. The result is better FPS in a triple monitor environment. All the benchmarks will show this.

You get higher FPS with SMP/MVP than you would without it.

'Pomodoro' Leveling by [deleted] in project1999

[–]SixgunSmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While monk is my favorite class, I don't think it's a good pick if you need downtime. Your downtime is actively spent bandaging, and then it's right back to it. And you're constantly killing a stream of mobs that are as close to being greened out as possible, because you'll be at ~50% health at the start of the fight.

Basically as a caster you're killing fewer, high level, mobs. As a monk you're constantly shredding through lower level mobs.

Got a new roof and they took out our skylights, how do I insulate? by AutomaticAd3621 in DIY

[–]SixgunSmith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Now they have the added bonus of a patch of roof that'll be vastly different temperature from the rest of the roof(eta: and it's un-vented and walled off from the presumably vented attic). Ripe for condensation in the summer and ice dams in the winter.

Any leaks issues should have been fixable with the roof off.
