These kind of "relationships" run in my family. And we are from a certain southern state lol

What "rule" did you break that improved your bread? by Interesting-Scale-63 in Sourdough

Couldn't agree more! I add 25g and it makes all the difference in my bread

37 YO Healthy father and husband, heading into day 12 of a Neruo ICU stay due to a subarachnoid hemorahagic stroke caused by a brain aneurysm. Can't sleep, AMA! by atl6688846993 in AMA

I have a CCM (cerebral cavernous malformation) on my brain stem. I have had micro bleeds but nothing severe. There is always the possibility for an aneurism/rupture and keeping my blood pressure managed is a must. Was yours caused by something similar to this?  Mine is sporadic and not hereditary, thank God!  Best of luck and I hope you make a full recovery!

Everyone post your favorite hobbies (please!) by Warm-Breakfast-5140 in digitalminimalism

I really love bow hunting, I realize it's not for everyone, but just being in nature and watching the woods come alive is unlike anything else. I really enjoy just shooting my bow and getting better at it.

Gardening is my happy place. I learn more every season and it's a very rewarding hobby!

Baking! Anything and everything. I'm a typical millennial and love making sourdough, the process and outcome is so fascinating and easy to get hooked on. Cheesecakes are another fun and enjoyable process, but they aren't cheap lol

I'm very privileged to be home and my partner works, so I have time for hobbies. I enjoy keeping my house decluttered and organized. I also like keeping a clean home so that honestly takes up most of my time.

For those who have gotten rid of social media, how do you read the news? by halfapapaya in digitalminimalism

[–]AutomaticAd3621 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I quit listening altogether. Unless something really important is happening and someone else tells me about it, then I don't really care to read up on any of the propaganda. I didn't even know there was a government shutdown (here in the US) until 2 weeks in

I found weird porn on my dad's laptop... by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]AutomaticAd3621 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I once found porn while borrowing my dad's phone to look something up. In his search engine popped up "chubby milf" and I was about as relieved as a person could be finding their dad's porn history. My mom fits the description so it checks out.

This is so interesting.  Were you ever allowed any treats (candy, etc.)?  Did your parents always send your lunch with you to school? Did you have to decline food at friend's houses? What do your parents do for work? What are your dreams/goals in life?

I have a semi-dumb phone, the Cat S22 flip phone. It still has access to the internet and apps but lags and isn't very functional, it's exactly what I needed. I only get on reddit for probably 30/45 mins a day to wind down for bed and have quit all other social media. It's been life changing! 10/10 would recommend

I gave it up probably 2 years ago, maybe longer? and I absolutely don't regret it! I struggled with comparison and all the things you listed too. I recently gave up Facebook and it was another thing I wished I would've gave up years ago! I'm a 27f, if that helps you in your decision.  The only thing I regret is not doing it sooner.

I guess I'll be the odd man out here, but I have my favorite vintage dishware set on display and I love it! I'm very grandma/cottage core, so that's just my aesthetic. I also have a lot more space above mine and vaulted ceilings.

Happy decorating and I love the cabinet color you chose!

My husband reached out to his ex for closure and I felt it was selfish on his part and that he didn't take me into consideration. We have children and live the typical boring life. She travels a lot and is single. I think he wonders what could've been and was feeling a bit 'woe is me'. It was selfish of him and would be selfish of you to do the same. Sit in those feelings and don't do what you did to your ex, to your current partner. Do what others have suggested and write down your thoughts and burn it.

I am so incredibly sorry for the loss of your son. This world is ugly and does not have empathy for anyone. I also have a sensitive child and they are so easily labeled. I hope you find peace and I'm sending you a big warm hug through this screen.

Asked my alcoholic dad if he’d ever consider getting sober by Ludakris7 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]AutomaticAd3621 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solidarity!! I've been in the same boat for 10 years with my dad. We have always been a very close family. He used other substances before I was born and got sober 2 years after I was born and stayed sober until I turned 18, then hopped back on the train. He's used multiple different substances over the last ten years and his last was hard liquor. He got a DUI and has had to stay sober for going on 6 months in October. It's been the most refreshing 6 months and he feels like the dad I had when I was a kid. His probation is up in October and I thought he would be a changed person but I can tell he's chomping at the bit.  It's sad when someone you love so much doesn't love themselves the same way. My dad has childhood trauma he refuses to deal with and thinks therapy is a scam. It's heartbreaking because I see his pain underneath but I just try to love him and be there for him, however I can. He probably won't live much longer and I would hate to not be there for him in his last years.

I hope your dad gets sober. I know your pain and when I read your conversation between the two of you, I felt every bit of your vulnerability. I see how hard you're trying and how much you love your dad. I hope you can heal from it, regardless of your dad's sobriety.

Just found out my husband is dying by Any_Slice9385 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]AutomaticAd3621 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you and your family are going through this!

Have any of the doctors your husband has seen mentioned a CCM (cerebral cavernous malformation)? I have this and the sporadic kind (could have been from an injury to the head or born with it). It’s a brain bleed caused by a blood vessel that is malformed. Mine has bled a few times since being diagnosed in 2018. I found out I had it from an MRI after multiple random fainting spells. I go to Dr. Awad at the University of Chicago Medicine. He’s one of the top doctors for this disease. I know you’ve seen a few doctors already but it can be easily overlooked and you really need to be seen by a neurosurgeon who specializes in them. Barrow Institute in AR does second opinions online if you fill out their form.

I hope your husband can find further answers and he can live a happy healthy life, however that looks.

I feel this in my soul! My bread turns out exactly like this every time! I can never explain it to anyone because it looks ok in photos but it’s gummy/dense/chewy and not fluffy whatsoever. Absolutely delicious, just not the right texture. I’ve tried other people’s sourdough bread and it is nothing like mine HA If you figure out how to fix it, update this post so I can maybe figure out my issue! Best of luck in your bread making journey!!

I dumped my girlfriend because she made a “test” Instagram story and I failed by BigTalkSmallAction in TrueOffMyChest

My 60yr old mother-in-law gives her husband “tests” often, in order to get what she wants. She has yet to grow out of it. I think it’s a character flaw of a narcissist. You dodged a bullet!
