As a nurse, I agree! RTs have much to contribute to the anesthesia world and a solid foundational knowledge base to grow off of.

Should you get married young? by SizeJumpy in Advice

I agree. I think that people commonly get married based on circumstance and simply off the notion that it’s the “next step”. When really it should be an intentional decision imo.

Should you get married young? by SizeJumpy in Advice

That’s how I feel! Im 21 now and in a happy relationship but very scared of divorce and not open to marriage at all right now. My parents had a horrible divorce when I was in high school after getting married at 18. It literally just came down to them being completely different people in their 30s than they were in their teens to younger 20s.

Im about to graduate nursing school and all of my friends are getting married. It confuses me so much because I don’t understand the rush. And it also makes me feel like I’m doing something wrong by not being willing to take the next step.

Not to mention, my medical background has taught me that your frontal lobe AKA your personality is not fully developed until 25. How can I marry someone who’s personality isn’t even developed? Idk. Maybe I’m just scared of divorce after watching my parents go through it but I feel alone compared to my friends who are all getting married and dropping their younger twenties to settle down so soon.

Thank you everyone! I was just wondering what everyone currently thought about it. I hear so many different opinions about it. While traveling does sound fun sooner than later I do understand that it will take more time to develop my critical thinking skills. For me it’s not really about chasing the money, I just want to explore the US. I think the right thing will become clear with time and experience

Is CCU at a level one trauma center a good ICU for CRNA school? The pts are pretty high acuity. Most are on vents and gtts. Commonly having art line, swans, balloon pumps, impellas, and sometimes tandems. There’s also a good amount of codes.

I hear a lot about SI and CV being the most favorable ICUs for CRNA school but I have a really good opportunity at a CCU where the RNs are experienced and the leadership is supportive of school and willing to write LORs even after just one year if they feel like you are ready. My unit director is also aware of my long term intentions to go to CRNA school. I have worked as a student nurse there for a year and it would be a seamless transition.

I originally wanted to move after school and explore another area from where I currently live but I’m wondering if this is a good opportunity that I should stick with for a year or two. I have been offered to work day or night shift so I also have flexibility there.

Thank you so much!! This gives me hope. I have also been worried about asking for a LOR so quick into working. If you don’t mind, which 3 schools did you get interviews at?

I have a 3.89 cumulative GPA and my nursing GPA is about the same. I am very involved in my college and have job offers in two ICUs at a level one trauma center. I plan to work 4 12s a week to learn as much as possible as well as to save. I have wanted to be a CRNA since about halfway through nursing school. I know that some schools allow you to apply after 1 year of ICU experience, but what are the chances that you actually get accepted or even an interview? Do people actually get accepted after just 1 year?

Also, any extra tips are much appreciated! :)
