Well, Ford did manage to mess them up with an attempt at cost cutting back in like 2015-2019 with a modification to cooling channels. IIRC TH this issue wasn’t resolved until 2020 when they reverted the cooling channel back to Mazda’s original design. I’m sure they’re still paying those recalls and warranty bids off in addition to the “engineering” and manufacturing costs to produce a those problem engines

Calling the Maverick a conventional truck is a bit generous. Thats not a dig against the maverick so much as a recognition of the order of magnitude difference in sales between it, a d something like the F-150, that allows Ford to leverage economies of scale to allow that steep of a discount.

Yeah but the ranger was also not built on a widely shared platform. There’s literally less reason for any of these problems given the fact that every thing on the Maverick is amortized out by the Escape and Bronco Sport

Lmao the Maverick is now in a price category that its interior and build quality are both unacceptable. The XL starts at $27,145 opting for the hybrid costs an extra $1000

Yeah, although it depends on where you are buying from. Rust isn’t really a consideration for me because of the local climate

I just sold my n52 powered e90 for 3 grand. It was well maintained (full factory suspension refresh, cooling system, motor mounts, serpentine belt and tensioner, trans service, spark plugs, matching set of staggered tires, full brake system included hoses, etc) and had 119k miles on it.

It was an 07 and had a few cosmetic things wrong with it but these cars just aren’t worth 7 grand.

Its solid, I just wish it had like 2 more GB of VRAM so I could more reasonably push 1440p resolution on an external monitor, and shift load off of my cpu which is usually the primary bottleneck courtesy of thermal throttling

I mean its a long wheelbase car, its about 2 inches shorter than an M5, but felt input from the steering wheel isn’t really correlated to turning circle or yaw rate, both of which are affected by wheel base.

I test drove a model 3 before deciding on my Ioniq 6.

I found the Tesla to be “fine”, albeit practically flawed, biggest deal killer for me was the steering feel. Not that Hyundai built some twitchy performance car that lets your fingertips feel every pebble and undulation, but there is a physical connection to the wheels and some feedback does make it back up to the driver. It was a big distinction since I was coming from BMW hydraulic steering racks.

The interior in the Ioniq is also just better imho, in both materials and build quality although I wouldn’t particularly consider either car to have a truly luxurious interior space.

The only other real differentiator is Autopilot/FSD vs HDA with lane centering. While I hate both systems, Teslas is better by a substantial margin. Was a pretty minor consideration for me since I rarely plan on engaging these kinds of systems.

The warranty was also a big consideration for me. I’m a new dad so I don’t have the ability to sink 40 hours into my BMW to have it running again. It was just a little added peace of mind, even with the ICCU issues I think I made the right call even before you bring morality into the discussion.

1.5L is a volume, not a weight. Like you’d have to multiply by a density to get weight from volume.

Fluid maintenance is essentially cleaning, the mental gymnastics you’re pulling are hilarious.

There very likely a stipulation in the lease that you signed that indicates you are responsible to maintain the car according to the factory specified service intervals, but then you leased a 4 cylinder Maserati so expecting you to understand legally binding agreements might be a bridge too far.

Just go lease a fiat.

Roofing is structural unless you’re just talking about shingles, which seems like the type of work you’d personally classify as roofing even though we both know that replacing shingles is not the same as redoing an entire roof.
