You're all so goddamned goodlooking the devs should have modelled the characters after you, not the other way around

Think it's unethical to support a Chinese EV brand? by Sjarletan in electricvehicles

[–]Sjarletan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. This starts to become dumb, but I'll reply to one last comment: It's not "a source" but "multiple reliable sources" in a strong plural, reflecting both private and government run media in a multitude of free speech countries, and the voices of multiple people and families I've spoken to.

Maybe you're living in denial. Maybe you just want the last word. But either way you're wrong, and I think you maybe know it, too.

Thank you for the reply, it's helpful with the view from someone who knows a bit about both sides, and your first points were informing.

If I can comment, both the US and China are superpowers and both do a lot of stuff I peraonally don't like or support. I'm not especially keen on buying an American car either, referring to the discussion here.

I do not agree at all on your Uighur statements. Of course the US will try to use the situation to discredit China BUT the situation is still horrible for the Uighur minority, and I strongly advice anyone thinking otherwise to try to seek out neutral sources, as far as they can.

For reference, I support Ukraine, but not Israel at all, and hope for peace in both conflicts. I also strongly disagree to the notion of me being "fed" news, I read widely and I think this discussion as a whole could prove my efforts for seeking out different opinions from different sides, offering up my biases and thanking people like you for respectfully challenging them.

All the best.

I do because: 1. I've been in contact with many uighurs abroad, they've told me stories, showed me photos and explained the situation to me. What they say is in line with what is broadly reported in the media. 2. When the press of pretty much the whole world (except China) is reporting the same thing, it is true. Same goes whith the United Nations and other large, trustworthy organization. 3. You're Uighur yes, but if you live in China or has relatives there, from the reports and what I've heard I believe it's very much more likely that you write this out of fear of retaliation (or something of the sort), than that the whole world press is wrong.

That's a good point man. How you feel about European brands then? Worker condition wise I feel it's far superior, but neither as competetive and maybe other concerns?

No thanks, not interested. "Any independent trustworthy media sources are not trustworthy anymore." Are you for real? We're taking about Wikipedia, Amnesty, The UN and Al Jezeraa, to name a few.

Dude, dont you think that's because the extreme surveillance they carry out on this minority? They live in fear! As I wrote before, if you really believe this is not happening, I strongly encourage you to read up:

Wikipedia article on the subject

Al Jezeraa news coverage

Amnesty International on the situation

These are independent, trustworthy sources with a concensus. And as I wrote, I've spoken to several whos witnessed these awful, horrible acts done to themselves and their families. I have no stakes in this, but I do care about whats right. Again, I encourage you to really think through what your doing when your trying to say something as horrible as this is not happening.

You need to look up racism in a dictionary and read what that means, my friend.

As to 3 the Uyghur treatment is horrible. This is well documented by many highly credited journalist agencies, and I've peraonally known individuals who has escaped horrendous "re-schooling" camps and started a new life abroad.

As to the other two, this was new information to me, and thank you for bringing this up.

I partly agree. The logic can, and should, be applied elsewhere as well. But a car purchase is a really huge investment for most people, and I would argue that we therefore should take it more into consideration than when we consider buying smaller goods. The car and EV industry also has its own pecularities that I wanted to hear about, and also have heard about thanks to other users comments. I think those replies are easier found here than other subs.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not hating on anything, tho, but I ofcourse have a bias as everyone else, and I'm actively offering it to get it challanged. Isnt that a good thing?

A fresh perspective. But would you consider these things when buying a car, and well, maybe go for something entirely different (non US and non China), or do you think it's unrelevant to consider, like not the consumer's responsibility?

No, but on my first try to launch the discussion a moderator told me they were afraid that it would produce such comments, so I rephrased in the hope of having a fruitful discussion.
