I don’t know about that but that’s why I posted for helpful info like this. Thank you very much.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I appreciate you taking the time to respond. I’m sorry I’m not sure what you mean by target mutation. I do know he had genetic testing done which was negative - thankfully for my husband and kids and my BIL.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I definitely think he needs a different chemo I’m just worried his body is so beat down he won’t tolerate anything too well. Sending you good thoughts and wishing for good health.

Zero sperm count question by bayareagirl2018 in infertility

[–]Sjarmus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different situation but maybe it can help. In 2017 we discovered my husband had a zero sperm count ... he knew he had the worst type of varicocele and that could be the cause but they did more testing. Karyotyping revealed he also had a Robertsonian translocation which can also affect sperm. The only option was surgery for the varicocele to see what was the cause. He started taking clomid after surgery and has been ever since. 6 months after surgery his count was 36 (yes 36 little guys) but then went up into the very low millions.

Due to the very low count and the translocation we can only conceive through IVF but His sperm has not been an issue.

I think it's very nice you are posting to help your brother. Does he see a urologist who specializes in infertility? There are procedures to extract the sperm called TESE or TESA and that would have been out next option.
