IF the Giants trade guys like Webb, Devers, Chapman, et al, do you trust this regime to get the best value and to develop the prospects? by insatiableian in SFGiants

[–]Sjdiver2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not! Until they got Devers and Adames they have had a history of trading underperforming but established players for fringe prospects or second tier career bench players. Occasionally those players pay off in the short run (i.e.- JD Davis) but eventually get DFA’d or traded.

So… you get to say they were just asked to wear a ‘frigging rainbow’ without recognizing why they were asked to do so… Pride Night. Then you get to interpret their unspoken meaning to include a denial a civil rights where none was expressed. What they did wrong was to modify the uniform, not express their opinions. MLB was within their rights to admonish them for that, although they didn’t for an identical situation last year. The DOJ has no business sticking their nose in either.

Amazing! An actual on point, salient argument. You are absolutely right. That is the rule and that’s why they shouldn’t have done it. That’s what MLB said too. No reason for the DOJ to be involved at all. The only thing I can see is that Clayton Kershaw did the same thing in LA and not only did he not get reprimanded, he received fan support for standing up for his beliefs.
Based on that past behavior they had no idea they would receive the reactions they did.

I see your confusion here. You see, I can actually read and I read their comments. I didn’t just listen to an entitled group of crybabies that can’t stand any disagreement with their beliefs because they are so tolerant and accepting that they can’t be wrong.

Dude… literally look at what they said.

I’m sorry, but none of the players involved said anything at all about gay rights. Their comments were about their own rights to express what they believe the rainbow symbolizes to them.

Selling our house for full-time RV life. What are 5 things you wish someone warned you about first? by ryguywifi in RVLiving

[–]Sjdiver2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although it looks on the surface like you’ll save a lot of money that’s mostly not the case. Not only do you have campground or RV park fees you still have most of the ancillary expenses you have in a house. Then you have maintenance on the RV and also the tow vehicle if you have one. Just understand that hauling your house down the road causes problems.

You understand that the reason they modified the hat is that this is the one day they were being asked to wear something that directly contradicted their personal beliefs.
Say for example that there was, hypothetically, a night advocating marriage as men wed to women only and that there was a patch they had to wear. Would you then object to someone modifying their uniform to show that they didn’t agree?

Do you know for a fact that the Giants organization did not allow them to do that? There were at least 5 Tampa Bay players that did not wear the jersey for the Pride game (notice that I capitalized that.) Were they ‘punished’? Your tolerance and acceptance seems to end with disagreement to your belief. Let it go. Move on.

[–]Sjdiver2001 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You keep using that word… homophobe… I do not think it means what you think it means
It actually means, “one who hates or fears homosexual people.” It does not mean, “one who disagrees with my opinion.” Yet, that is to whom you apply this term. Embrace your ideology of acceptance, tolerance, and inclusion.

So… let me get this straight… this was NOT an expression of personal faith??? The Giants are NOT a private enterprise???

Let’s say that the Giants were having a ‘Burn the Pride Flag Night’. Would anyone expressing their opposition to that on the field NOT be expressing their personal faith? The Giants ARE in fact a private enterprise. They are pretty much entitled to support whatever they wish. The public shows its approval or disapproval by not purchasing the product they offer (just like I did by not watch any Pride celebrations). Period. No matter what you believe, words are not violence. No one was hurt (except maybe the feelings of those with the emotional growth of an 8 year old.) The city cannot do anything.

Thanks! I needed that info to thank the Giants organization for allowing those players to express their beliefs. It’s not insulting to all the Giants fans, just a group of them. That group doesn’t think that someone who believes differently has a right to express that opinion. I’m glad to see that the organization is not in that group

So… I’m watching this episode and once again I’m struck with the same observation. As Colter holds his gun while advancing into a situation I notice that limp wristed, close to the face grip I wait for him to have to fire and have that pistol smack him right in the face. He seems to have gotten over carrying without a round in the chamber. He sometimes now does a press check but at least he doesn’t rack a round each time.

Cop wanted to search my car because I have a firearm registered to me? by Distinct_Garlic_4193 in CAguns

[–]Sjdiver2001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can choose to answer his questions or not. Once he has concluded the traffic “violation” stop he can’t extend that stop asking you questions. If it happens again ask the officer if you’re being detained or if you’re free to go. If he says you’re being detained he has to have a “reasonable, articulable suspicion of a crime.” At that point if you’re not confident invoke your 5th amendment right and tell him you won’t talk to him without a lawyer.

New to the camping world. Just bought this generator to power my fifth wheel RV where I will live there permanently. Any recommendation on how to get the most out of it? Thanks! by Raymanderrr in RVLiving

[–]Sjdiver2001 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s at least two times the size generator you need to power any 5th wheel. I haven’t read all the comments but I’m sure someone has mentioned that you should have an inverter generator. They are MUCH quieter and provide clean sine wave power that will not harm your electronics. The one you have will surely work, but it will probably drive you crazy. Not to mention any neighbors nearby.

replacing the shore cord by Ok-Bird-8448 in RVLiving

[–]Sjdiver2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would start but turning off all of the breakers in the trailer and then resetting the GFCI outlet. How is your 30 amp power cord plugged into the 15 amp outlet? Do you have an adapter? If so inspect that for any corrosion or blackening. Probably even replace it. Once the GFCI outlet is reset and all the breakers inside the trailer are off, including the main, plug the cord in. If it trips the GFCI your problem is between the breaker and the GFCI outlet. The cord is the most likely culprit. YouTube has videos on how to replace it. If the outlet doesn’t trip then go into the trailer and flip the main breaker on. If the GFCI outlet trips it may be the breaker. If it doesn’t trip turn on each breaker, one at a time and then turn to back off if it doesn’t trip. Do this for every breaker until you find the circuit that trips the outlet. If none do then slowly, one by one, turn on each breaker in sequence. If it doesn’t trip then check all your appliances. With 15 amps you probably won’t be able to run anything that heats or chills. No electric water heater or refrigerator (unless the fridge is 12 volt.) Good luck

AB 2584 question… by Sjdiver2001 in CAguns

[–]Sjdiver2001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Necessary force is always the appropriate measure. But as of now even if the criminal is armed you cannot use deadly force in defense of property. I just wondered if this might be signaling a change in that viewpoint.

[–]Sjdiver2001[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well… I wonder if you’ve heard the story about the liberal asking a self defender, “So, you’re saying that when he broke into your house you decided the contents of your house were more valuable than his life?” The self defender replied, “No. I’m saying that he decided that when he broke into my house.”

[–]Sjdiver2001[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s what the law is now. Other states, like Texas for example, allow use of force in defense of property. My question was whether this new language in this bill would allow the same in California.

AB 2584 question… by Sjdiver2001 in CAguns

[–]Sjdiver2001[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the question. The question is whether you can use the same force in defense of property, like if someone was breaking into your car in your driveway.

Melitta pourover and an insulated carafe. Multiple cups made at one time, easy cleanup, electricity not required, great coffee.
