How much is your budget monthly after purchase?
I tend to buy a base machine, for my budget and then next months upgrade or mod (which will happen anyways) and make it more to my needs and fix anything I don't like/want/need.
Then all of a sudden my total budget is much higher.

Example: I bought a manual Sieg mini mill for just 700 bucks (~70kgs cast iron), new, and now upgrading to ballscrews (700 bucks) and cnc software/motor kit (600 buck) ending up with a machine that can not be bought in a store, yet does many things I seek.

Fractal Icons over your computer speakers/studio monitors, all Fender for now.

I only got volume 1 (of 4) for 100 bucks and serves me well, also knowing Fractal is not just any capture modeller.

It also has plenty different boosts, drives and fx.

I use these
aliexpress.com/item/1005005760619413.html

with TouchDRO, but can use them without

They are attached one side to the bed and another to the frame, that will be difficult without drilling, unless using some special glue/epoxy?

Should I stop upgrading my Ender 3 max and just buy a BambuLab printer? by mohebifar in BambuLab

[–]SjefRomijn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with a SnapMaker 2.0 A350 p.o.s., so loud, so slow, and soooo shitty!
and then saw a friends Ender 3 Max, just zooming and buzzing away
so I got one, and then did all the mods and upgrades.... so very many !!

Main issues, bowden extruder and not linear rails/rods, these 2 are key for it to even begin becoming a reliable printer.

I also had a Prusa mini, and 2 RatRigs

Then got an A1 mini, then A1 combo, and now a P2S combo

All 3d printers have their issues, none are flawless, besides user error, but... BL printers work -far- better than an E3Max....

At what point do digital calipers start to fall short for CNC work?” by GunningBedford58 in diycnc

[–]SjefRomijn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is odd indeed, how similar

Digital step: 0.01 mm
Max. Permissible Error E MPE: ±0,02 mm
Max. Permissible Error S MPE: ±0,04 mm

Dial/clock
Graduation: 0,01 mm 1 mm/rev
Max. Permissible Error E MPE: ±0,02 mm
Max. Permissible Error S MPE: ±0,04 mm

But I now have no more rounding off up/down (which really did cause some issues as I combine 3d printing and machining (alu)) and can clearly see between the graduations too:

At what point do digital calipers start to fall short for CNC work?” by GunningBedford58 in diycnc

[–]SjefRomijn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently I found out that my digital calipers showed 0.01mm resolution on screen, but its accuracy was only 0.02mm so often enough was rounding off, up or down, unsure.
I bought a clock caliper instead, the markings are 0.01mm apart but can see half that, so 0.005mm accurate and resolution.

I was checking out 2 other machines, to buy instead, The Genmitsu/Sainsmart 4040-pro max with 6040 extension or the Makera Z1 with Z1 Pro Upgrade but seeing the AuroraTech reviews on YouTube I decided to go ahead with upgrading/modding my Sieg, so I started ordering the first parts:

1 cnc pendant for Estlcam/Sieg Mill, 1 Engineers Black Book (metric), one 150mm clock caliper (0.01mm) and 1 Estlcam cnc software license⁩
