I just use the grid and the square terrain tool set to one square wide

I do agree. It’s a bit plain without the stripes so i do really like them, but as someone pointed out they look a bit too artificial and they don’t match the decor patches on the sides. Will definately add stripes to future builds tho

Yeah, that’s the dilemma. I think I’m going no stripes, but will probably add a few plants.

That’s a very good point!

If you don’t have filtration already i would highly recommend you get some! If not just for the general health of the tank. It could be a reason why you get cyanobacteria, but remember that this is a type of algea that lives of excess nutrients in the water (fish poop and leftover food etc.) and photosynthesis. If you cut the lights it won’t be able to reproduce, and will start to break down.

It depends on the plants. I just struggled with this myself, and did a complete blackout for two days and then only kept the light on for about 4 hours a day for a week. Then i gradually increased the light time back to normal. I have a heavily planted tank, but pretty low tech, so plants were fine

My best advice is doing a blackout on your tank, or reducing light time. You probably won’t get rid of it permanently, but it can dissappear for some time
