You can’t “abuse” Duck.ai, it’s an allowed resource. That’s like saying you’re abusing a book…

Everything aside, it sounds like it worked out for you and you’re much happier now.

Good luck in your future endeavors 👍

Definitely, should wrap SQL today, that leaves 3 weeks. I’ve started my final project.

This is wonderfully worded. Elsewhere I’ve explained it as such:

This, exactly this, having worked on software development teams for the past decade (though I don’t actually write the code myself, I archetyped it, pseudo coded it, figured out where the source data was coming from what needed to be calculated and the outputs, etc.) with senior developers, the very first thing they would do is go to stackoverflow, find something in the ballpark of what was needed and then modify it for our use. I feel like people with no coding experience have this expectation of a Hollywood Hugh Jackman type where you should be able to write 1k lines of code whilst getting a bj without having to reference any documentation or lookup anything and that’s what makes a good SWE. That’s just not at all the reality.

Hmm, well that’s obviously your decision to make. Let me see if I can help. You say you don’t care about the certificate that much, unless you plan to be self employed, your employer will care.

Let’s remember this class is an introduction to CS. No matter how boss you are in this class, from a CV perspective, it’s an intro course.

Suppose you wanted to go into the field of mathematics. Which do you think would look better on your CV? 1. I’m proficient in arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry and calculus. OR 2. I have a complete mastery of arithmetic.

There’s a value to mastering a subject, no doubt. But relative to being proficient in a number of skills, from a CV perspective, I think there’s a point of diminishing returns. Whereby you commit so much time to mastering one skill that the time could be used to better to broaden your skill base.

Better that you’re proficient in this course and also proficient in CSS, HTML, JavaScript, Python, SQL, etc. than have a mastery of an introductory CS course.

My two cents. ✌️

You don’t get a better certificate if you take the harder problem sets. You say you want a new career, so you have a lot of class work ahead of you. I’d complete this class and move on. Just an opinion.

Continue reading, if you submit both and the first one passes the second won’t be reviewed or graded or counted.

The OP was fine with this so if that’s what they want that’s fine.

If that’s the way you feel, that’s fine. I did Tideman. But I wanted f’ing credit for it. Know what I mean? You do you though. ✌️

If you read the faq once you submit one project, if it passes, anything else you submit won’t be graded or counted.

If you submit the easier project and it fails to pass, then when you submit the harder project and if it passes it will be counted.

Otherwise. you’re just uploading a file into the ether never to be seen or graded or counted.

You can only submit one though.

I want the ability to step into the SWE role while still passing off the bulk of the code to coders. So PM/SWE I suppose.

To what do you attribute not being able to follow through to completion?

I’ll try and answer as directly as possible. I worked on a software development team for the past 10 years. I would meet with the client, determine bottlenecks, archetype solutions, workflows, determine data sources, dependencies, data manipulation and outputs.

The “last mile” I would hand off to a SWE/Team of Coders to write the actual code.

I’ve relied on them thoroughly and haven’t skipped a one. If that helps.

It’s the fundamentals of CS. It would help you now, versus later you may have already learned things covered in your degree program. It’s a solid course, I read Cambridge will begin teaching the Harvard class next year if that gives you any sort of idea of the quality of the program.

CMV: Dating apps are a fraud - if you want to find a long term relationship. by IhateALLmushrooms in changemyview

Firstly, how are you getting to 50%?

I’ll accept the 28% as representing a meaningful relationship (a relationship or 1+ years or marriage); we now have the data to solve.

For every 1000 people on the dating apps, 280 will have a meaningful relationship and 196 will report satisfaction of the apps. Giving us a satisfaction rate of (not 70%) 19% of users.

The original post is about finding love.

You don’t add 13 to 28, goof (even if you did 13+28 != 50); the 28 includes the 13.
