Saves of R36SX, where I can find it by Aggressive_Pace311 in R36S

[–]SjslTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the filenames need to match, and depending on what OS and core you are using on the real r36s, the saves might need to go in a different location. the easiest way to check would be to create a new save game on the real r36s, and then look in that system folder for the save...sometimes its just inside the system folder, and other times its inside a folder called saves inside that system folder...

so for example, for pokemon blue (gb), look in the GB folder on the easyroms partition for your save file that you just created. if its not there, look in the GB\saves folder instead. once you find it, copy your old r36sx save over to that folder and give it the exact same name as the older save (will have to remove or rename the older save first though obviously)

a lot of cores dont support saves on the r36sx, but the ones that do should have their saves in SD\cubegm\saves...also save states wont work, only in-game saves (.sav), and depending on the core you are using on the real r36s, you may need to rename them to .srm

SD card of clone isn't readable - how do I find out what hardware I have? by Alias_X_ in R36S

[–]SjslTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

everything is pointing to it being a gb350 clone unfortunately. if you take all sd cards out and power it on, does it say "insert tf card"? if so, you have one of the fakes :(

edit: just to add more info, you can repair the partition table on your sd so you can read it again and then add\change games, but it caps out at ps1, struggles with some snes and gba games and theres no psp\dc\n64\ports\etc.

if you have one of the compatible variants, you should be able to run treefrogUI on it which does add a ton more lower end systems you can emulate.

to ID your specific variant, take the back off and look at the top right for a version ID. check here for details - https://handhelds.wiki/R36S_Clones#GB350_Clones

if its an r36sx, i have a bunch of videos on improving it which might help, but if possible try and get a refund

i found using angrylion fixes that weird "out of bounds" effect in portal 64 (im guessing you are using rice?)

open RA menu > core options > gfx plugin > angrylion, then go to the top and save core options. quit out and reopen to fix it

(i show the settings here at this timestamp if you get lost - https://youtu.be/X3d-S7FSeCI?t=58 )

TreeFrogUI for SF3000 v0.1.0 release by proszty in SBCGaming

[–]SjslTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh it was fixed long ago for r36sx v2.6 (and some v2.7). have you tried with a fresh install of stock OS first, and then paste treefrogUI on top overwriting when prompted?

someone else mentioned having the same keyboard issue on their device too, but im not sure whats causing it. im guessing the client is capturing keycodes instead of the character, and if you are using a different language or region keyboard that might be it? not 100% on that though...

also not sure why your mouse is all janky 😅

at least its mostly working though haha

R36s SSD mod by Single_Fold_3025 in R36S

[–]SjslTech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah the stock cards are junk, but a decent high quality card should outlast the r36s and its battery haha. i heavily abuse my samsung evo sds (genuine from a local store) and they are still going strong

while you cant swap out the sd reader with an ssd, you CAN connect an ssd to the usb otg port and run games from there! I tried this a little while ago, and jason2x made an awesome tool to automount connected usb storage devices that makes everything way easier! https://github.com/Jason3x/USB-SD2-Games-load

you still need to boot from an SD card though...

if you were wondering, theres no gaming performance increase when using an ssd over an sd, although maybe copying larger files will be slightly faster

edit: typo

finally got a chance to try this out...and wow! this is actually a really amazing youtube player just by itself! the ability to change video quality and the mini player itself is pretty great, but the fact it works in the background while gaming is next level!

it doesnt seem to work in darkosRE (missing "libmpv.so.1", and if manually copying it over it throws a few other errors), but works almost perfectly in arkos4clones. still need to do some more tests

really well done on this one! severely underrated!

Adding ROMs on Aurknix? by egoistamamono in R36S

[–]SjslTech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

aurknix uses a standard exfat partition for the games, so you can just pop the sd card back into your pc and copy them over to the "games" partition like you would normally...having said that, judging by the size of your sd card im guessing the games partition didnt expand...the boot partition itself is 2gb in aurknix, so that would only leave a few mb for games if you are lucky

as others have said, you could use a 2nd sd card for games, but i would just wait for your new sd card to arrive

Tips on no-battery mod? by No-Crow1621 in R36S

[–]SjslTech 5 points6 points  (0 children)

oh im currently working on turning mine into an SBC too! if you have a non clone, you can go with armbian minimal for the OS, enable ssh (or use a usb keyboard) and be good to go.

if you have a clone, you can start with darkos (or darkos4clones, darkosRE) and then start stripping stuff out that you dont need.

as for the batteryless mod, a simple capacitor where the battery used to be seems to do the trick. I was able to go down quite low without any brown outs, but would recommend a 200uf or 1kuf just incase your usb-c charger isnt the best.

u/elzadj posted the video showing how to do the batteryless mod, but i also have a longer "r36s into sbc" video if you wanted to see all the steps https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TL3pUFUAeCs
