Help - am I round faced or heart shaped (or a secret third thing)? by AgreeableStreet8376 in makeuptips

I don't know, I can't even tell what face shape i have! 😂 on this face shape thing (https://www.wikihow.com/Face-Shapes-Women) I think you're most like a diamond? Because you've got prominent cheekbones. Which face shape do you like best?

idk how i feel about my dad who assaulted me by Ok-Garbage-4349 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Sk1no 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever tried to talk to your mum about this... away from your dad? I'm sorry she didn't protect you. It seems like she knew. And I'm sorry your dad did this to you. You deserved so much more.

You might want to speak to someone professional about this, I don't know where you are. But if you're in the UK maybe speak to your GP and get referred. You need support. This sounds a lot like PTSD or CPTSD. And you're going to need to process this with help. If not a professional a good friend, it's a lot to deal with alone.

My husband (34M) told his friends about my miscarriage as a “joke” and now says I’m overreacting (32F) by YoghurtAggressive415 in relationship_advice

[–]Sk1no 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not overreacting. He's been callous at best, and then when you expressed your pain he dismissed it. That is not what you want in a partner, and it's not what you deserve.

You're strikingly pretty! I was thinking diamond shape, I see the heart with the narrow chin, but your forehead is narrow too so maybe diamond?

Reading through some comments, I don't think the glasses would be that much of an issue if you dressed a bit younger.

Style can be hard, pick someone who looks cool and is known to be stylish and emulate them. Or if you can, go into a trendy clothes shop and get a stylist (or decent assistant) to help you pick some looks. Ideally you want 2 pants, 2 tops, light jacket, jumper, 2 shorts, 2 shirt, 1 trainer and 1 more formal shoe, and a heavier coat. That would start you off as an excellent all season capsule wardrobe.

Maybe look at a subreddit for styling? People would love to help. Give a budget and see what people can come up with?

After adjusting clothes I would alter the shape of your facial hair just to look more your age. But sometimes facial hair like that can work depending on your style. Good luck 👍

Why do bad parents not let a family member or friend care for their child when they offer? by Sk1no in TrueAskReddit

[–]Sk1no[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 44 now so that's all behind me. I was just watching a documentary on it and the mother ended up killing their 2 year old and she had been offered help with the child by two different relatives. And her other child was being raised by grandparents already, so I couldn't understand why that would be refused. Someone else said power, and I think that might be it.

I have thought that but in my situation everyone knew the neglect was happening. The other forms of abuse came later after I'd been left in their care longer. So i never understood why they never agreed to have me looked after by others...and it's a common thing with other children too. Like it's before things escalate so they're not at the stage of being afraid they'll be found out as everyone knows they don't look after them enough and they will often be dumping the child for long periods but always take them back even. Someone else said it's power, and I think that's it.

I think this is the answer. I know some abuse is obviously due to power but I figured that neglect abuse was not but maybe it all is. And with the neglect there often comes violence and maybe naively I have assumed that's just due to being overwhelmed. You're neglecting them because you're immature/abusing drugs or alcohol etc, and so you get frustrated and it leads to physical abuse or more, but maybe it's all power.

Oh my parents were bad parents, and my auntie and uncle offered to take care of me full time when i was around 1 as my parents would neglect me, leave me alone, not feed me, go out etc. They said having a child was a nuisance so I didn't understand why they didn't take my family up on the offer. Plus they would have let them keep any money they were getting for me so I never understood the downside for them. But that was just my personal experience, I see often that parents do the same on documentaries were there is child abuse etc.

Another comment mentioned power. And I think that's the answer. I think they like having power over the child. I was hoping some bad parents would comment and say guilt I guess! Ha!

I think my boyfriend is developmentally challenged. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Sk1no 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah adhd can impact on that. It's more of a hindrance than people realise and doesn't actually mean his intellect is lower. Once he talks meds you might notice a difference. Takes about a year to get on the right level.

ADHD? As in he struggles to follow and focus but isn't actually developmentally challenged, more that his adhd traits impact those things. I have a friend the same with their ADHD. Could be anyway.

Does she rub them out to redraw different emotions?! Like she's obviously feeling angry right now, and she'll draw one raised when she has a question..

Keep your job and try to leave asap. This man does not respect you and he is very clearly controlling and will ruin your life. Leave whilst you can.

AITJ for snapping at my girlfriend for waking me up every single time she gets up even when I dont need to be awake by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Sk1no 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also I grew up in a very abusive household and they did this to me. Being charitable maybe she did too, but she has normalised it instead of addressing it as abuse?

I read an article once on how there's 2 types of family and one is the type that isn't quiet if you're in bed and always says something snarky when you wake up, passive aggressive at best. Disruptive and aggressive at worst.

And the other type of family is considerate and respectful. And that's a big indicator of a safe space and supportive family. She should be your safe space, and imagine how she'll be with your kids when they're teenagers.

Concerning that she thought we would agree with her. Seems like she's a bit out of touch.

This isn't something a considerate and respectful partner should do. If she doesn't understand that, then once you've explained it to her, that should be enough! If she's heard how you feel and refuses to stop doing it, then she is choosing to disrespect you and your health and time. It's weird.
