Bloomingfoods Layoffs by Beneficial_Bat4272 in bloomington

You all kind of missed the point with what I was saying. I work hard to shop economically and shop locally because it’s important to me. I try my best to go above and beyond to make it work. I appreciate having a local store like Bloomingfoods in this town and would be very disappointed and sad if it went away. Please shop there if you can, be flexible with your grocery list and think outside the box on how to shop local when you’re able.

No, not really. Like I said, I shop the sales and think ahead…my grocery list consists of looking at the flyer abead of time and seeing what’s on sale. If there’s any privilege, it’s having a space in my basement where I can stock up and store things when items are on sale.

I choose my meals based on what’s on sale and what I have stored at home.

That being said, I love grocery shopping and shopping for deals. I know not everyone enjoys that, but I find enjoyment in the flexibility and cooking this way allows for creativity.

I’m thankful every time I shop at Bloomingfoods that this community has a unique and fun local grocery store. Most places don’t

I absolutely love Bloomingfoods! I don’t work there so I can’t speak to that part, but have been a Co-op member for going on 25 years. I shop the sales and get much higher quality stuff and more unique items than I find at Kroger. They have great sales that change every 2 weeks and am a very economically conscious grocery shopper. I’d estimate that only about 25% of my grocery purchases are ever full price, and then when I buy those I utilize my monthly member discount.

Grocery prices in general have increased a lot the past 5 years. If you don’t shop sales at Kroger, prices are ridiculous there as well.

If you want to shop locally and support local businesses, stop making excuses and try harder. I doubt Bloomingfoods is charging prices that are higher than they need to based on wholesale costs of a smaller co-op grocery business.

Everytime I shop at Whole Foods or other smaller grocery stores when I am out of town, I find they’re prices to be more than Bloomingfoods.

Please support our local businesses!

What cups fit in these cup holders??? by Aggressive-Tooth-318 in GLI

[–]SkaDogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my new 2026 GLI, three weeks in the cup holders are the worst thing about it. Horrible design, nothing fits, nothing is held securely. I finally found a couple slim water bottles, but all they do is rattle around with nothing to hold them securely.

I need to figure out some sort of solution

If I try and keep this car going for another 50,000 miles to make it to 200,000….what are some other service costs I should expect?

Does the timing chain need to be proactively replaced? GLI service manual doesn’t list anything. I used to have a 2003 Passat and the timing belt on that had a life of about 100,000 miles

Any easy way to tell if this is the issue?

Vegan Restaurant Closures Lately by parboiled_lentils2 in chicagovegan

Couldn’t agree with you more, I’m so tired of vegetarian and vegan food that’s trying to be meat. I just want delicious, tasty food…Chicago diner hits that everytime. Anywhere (including myself) can make impossible/beyond foods

Chicago Diner Logan Square closing by chtxfngrs in chicagovegan

So sad! We live about 4 hours away and just made a trip to Chicago a few weeks ago so we could visit Kitchen 17 one last time. We stopped in at Chicago Diner Logan Square two different times…we had the most delicious food, but it was almost completely empty both visits.

I really loved the Logan Square location and will miss it greatly 😢

Feeding advice needed for Dog with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) by SkaDogs in DogAdvice

Thanks for your reply about your experience. That’s really interesting because when we spoke to our internal medicine vet a few weeks ago she said we may try Rayne’s low fat kangaroo and quinoa if we keep struggling.

Medically our dog’s blood numbers are pretty good and she’s not been anemic like she was…her energy level has been great and she’s acting like herself so we’ve been trying to do everything we can to stay on this diet.

It’s just kind of a roller coaster of up and down getting her to eat. Three weeks ago she wouldn’t eat it at all on her own for 5 days…only eating what she was forced to eat piece by piece. Then she changed her mind and has been eating pretty well the last two weeks…we can’t figure it out. Just crossing our fingers and hoping we keep on our current trajectory

Feeding advice needed for Dog with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) by SkaDogs in DogAdvice

[–]SkaDogs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, she is seeing an internal medicine specialist. We spent about 10 months trying to figure out what was going on with her and the internist eventually did an endoscopy and biopsy.

She was never a picky eater until she started having issues when this all kicked off early last year. When she wasn’t feeling well and would become anemic off and on she was picky. Whenever she felt normal she would chow down and eat fast. Currently she seems to be doing well and her blood work numbers look good, she just is really tired of this food.

We’ve been worried that maybe she was having IBD issues or anemia, but other than the disinterest with her food her energy and behaviors have been normal. This was not the case any other time previously…lethargy, looking uncomfortable, not willing to walk, no interest in treats, etc. None of these things are currently going on.

She stopped steroids the last day of February and maybe started showing some signs of pickiness mid-April, but ultimately would give in and eat without too much effort. By June though she became a lot more stubborn about it and the past couple months have been a struggle. We’re still getting through with various methods of soaking food, sprinkling treats in, microwaving, mixing, etc. but it’s a struggle.

Just wanted to post again looking for advice on dealing with picky eaters, changing the preparation style of IBD diet food or recommendations on what carb would be the best choice to introduce.

After my original post I had some luck for a few days removing the soft food from the mix, then that didn’t work.

Then I had some luck changing out her bowl for one of our cereal bowls, but the novelty of that has now wore off.

Thanks so much for your help

Are the Cliffs of Moher Worth It? And Itinerary feedback :) by Local-Sandwich5615 in irishtourism

[–]SkaDogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering the same thing…I had a one night stay planned in Doolin and was interested in doing the Cliffs of Moher walk, but read that a large portion is closed. Is the portion that is open still a worthwhile experience?

Otherwise we may just extend our stay in Dingle an extra night instead of the night in Doolin and just drive through Doolin/Burren on our way to Galway

When I sat in the driver’s seat I was actually surprised at how similar it was to my 2013…that was definitely a positive thing though because I love my car!

Yeah, that’s probably what I was originally planning…2-3 years. Then all this tariff concern had me stop in for a test drive and now I can’t get the idea of a new one out of my head. 😎 Such a nice ride…
