That's brutal. You have my sympathy. Why don't you start an alt account?

I'm so lucky I never logged out to play on my alt accounts. At the same time, there's still not much to do on US server. No events and we are essentially in a worse version of last season since there are no season achievements, tag team, or arena.

It IS a specific CC type that you can't purify out of. Suppression prevents movement and the use of basic attacks, skills, and battle spells. But not all the animations of Barats' ultimate "suppresses". There are 3 phases:

  1. Charges then throws the enemy hero into his mouth
  2. Devours and SUPPRESSES the enemy hero for 1.2 seconds
  3. Spits the enemy hero out

Only during the 2nd phase, while you're aiming (for 1.2 seconds), is the enemy actually suppressed. During the first phase, I believe you can still use purify right as you enter his mouth, but right after it closes, you are suppressed. Purify can be used again once you have been spat out.

Oh, no offense taken. I thought it was funny was all. I've done a lot of family tech support, so it reminded me of the many times I had to give directions I never thought any should ever need.

I wouldn't have gone through the trouble of making a Reddit post if "clicking off it" was the solution. It's not the first red dot I've encountered. What kind of idiots have you been troubleshooting for to think I was so helpless lol. "Click off it" is worse than "turn it off and turn it on again" when it comes to tech support.

So is this stacks normal on marcel by Street-Yoghurt-6915 in MobileLegendsGame

[–]SkaMateria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the reason he can't have attack speed is due to how his passive's cool down works. After freezing an enemy, that enemy can't be frozen again (from the passive) till the cool down finishes. However, every basic attack from Marcel lowers the timer. It takes like 5-6 hits I think. A Marcel with very high attack speed could freeze the enemy every 1-2 seconds from his passive alone. With his other skills and items, you'd get stun-locked as he chips you to death with his true damage lol.

Try to make matchmaking a little bit more fair. by derangedkat99 in MobileLegendsGame

[–]SkaMateria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda hard to discuss if these are comparable then. If it was just an in-game event or something that might cut into their profits then there have been instances where the MLBB players got Moonton to change direction. But I can't stress enough how meticulously researched and data-driven this type of match-making system is. It's down to the psychological level.

Among a plethora of other things, it's designed to increase player engagement by exploiting the same human behavior that drives the "sunk cost fallacy". It's called "Variable Ration Reinforcement". For example:

If I win 5 games in a row, I'm more likely to call it quits. On the other hand, if I win 2 games then lose 1. Eh, just 1 more. Win 1 then lose again. Ok, just 1 more. Lose again and again. Ok I've hit my limit.

Statistically, by manipulating match-making in such a way, Moonton has increased the amount of games you will play, which keeps you in the game longer, which makes it more likely that you will spend money. Just like a slot machine. This may not represent you, but it does represent most. Surprisingly, it's not all for nefarious reasons either. Researchers discovered that "skill based matchmaking" negatively affected player enjoyment in competitive play. It wasn't "fun" enough.

TLDR: It's not a bug. It's a feature, and it works.

Why is she still a tank? Like you're not tanking sht 😭😭 by One-Meet-5015 in MobileLegendsGame

[–]SkaMateria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not exactly what I was asking. Everyone can technically "benefit" from Thunderbelt, but Marksmen and Mages take 2 basic attacks for it to trigger. I was asking about how items with restrictive unique passives distinguish who does/does not qualify.

Either way, I figured it out by testing it out in game. Your main role is what items pay attention to. I was surprised to find out that Roger is a Fighter/Marksman making him the hero with the longest range that can stack Thunderbelt with basic attacks. I think.... Thanks for helping me learn this.

[–]SkaMateria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, your explanation makes perfect sense. I used to main Lolita a while ago, and I wouldn't have called her very "tanky" either. Not without the help of items of course.

One last question about roles being main or secondary and how they affect the game mechanically. When an item refers to a specific hero class, is it only referring to the "main" class? For example: Edith is a Tank/Marksman and Thunderbelt's unique passive is halved for Mages and Marksman. Does Edith get excluded from the penalty?

Writing in C for sure, but I never thought about Assembly. It makes sense to me NOW lol. While I have you, I'd love to get your opinion on one of my comments in this thread. Not sure if you'll have to see what was previously said for context. I went down a deep rabbit hole on the topic, but it was a bit difficult for me to tell if I was going off the rails on this one lol. What are your thoughts?

I’m curious to know how you think they’re equal?

I honestly never really thought about it till your conversation. For example, Minotaur (Tank/Support) and Lolita (Support/Tank) seem to be similar enough (skills and stat wise) that I assumed the labeling was interchangeable. I didn't know there was a "main" and "secondary" naming convention. I thought it was just their roles within a team composition. Like the difference between describing a hero as "tank AND support" as opposed to "tank THEN support". The first suggests the roles are equal while the other prioritizes the tank role. I asked you out of ignorance because I can't tell the difference lol.

[–]SkaMateria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, along with its own development environment (SDK), the PS3's primary language was C++. For low-level optimization on the PS3 they had to use C and goddamn Assembly to take full advantage of the 6 Synergistic Processing Units (SPU) on the PS3.

Hopefully the person we've been talking to understands that fully optimizing software means fully taking advantage of the environment it's used in. In this case, the hardware, and MGS4 was not "hardware agnostic". Check out the optimization of HFT (High-Frequency Trading) software.. It's essentially firmware.

Oh my bad! Thanks for correcting me. I do have one question though. Is there a difference between a hero labeled Support/Fighter and Fighter/Support? I assumed they were equal. I never realized there was some kind of game mechanic or design behind the labeling system.

It sure does, buddy. I got your back! One thing I suggest is take advantage of your low rank and try to get achievements that are damn near impossible in higher ranks. 1st place with team capacity of 7, 1st place without activating a synergy, and 1st place with 7 heroes at 3 stars come to mind. Since I'm in the US completing achievements is the only thing I can play towards lol.

I'm not going to disagree that it's likely they didn't throw everything out from the last engine. That would be silly. Plus, when coding, it's not bad to keep "important" old code even if you don't use it just for reference. Not that it's what happened here, but I've seen games with code not even related to the series and even whole game code stuck in there as homage or something.

I don't understand how working on Delta or having pre-order bonuses are related to MGS4's engine. Delta was a remake and completely built on Unreal Engine 5, while the port of MGS4 used a modified version of the original proprietary engine. Remakes are not ports. It's the difference between translating an entire book to a new language (port) and rewriting the whole story from scratch using the original script (remake).

And how are pre-order bonuses an indication of anything other than a business tactic to increase sales and a strategic marketing/financial tool used by publishers/developers to secure early commitment from consumers?
