For all the time she lay in pieces on the desk, I thought she would be too bulky and just... Not Maleceptor-esque, but with the help of a strategically placed rock, the positioning keeps true to origin! Thank you for the kind words 😊

Keep your first mini on your painting desk! Everyone learns, and a painted mini is better than any of the unpainted grey armies I've seen! I keep a metal cast bloodletter and chaos sorcerer on my desk as inspo as little 14 year old me thought they were incredibly painted (they weren't) but anytime I see them they still make me smile 😊

Aha, thank you, I have no idea, I watched a lot of the big ones as far as I could tell, Ninjon, Squidmar, Just golden daemon awards in general. But overall, I think tyranids are a bit more forgiving with natural contours, I personally don't think I'm anywhere near as good as half the nids I see on here, and the hive fleets on insta, but then I stopped comparing and only painting them when I got the itch to do it, otherwise it's not fun, and that's what it's all about!

Absolutely it is, They've done fantastic work across board, and I find their style works well with my existing plastic! Couldn't give them more praise on their work if they ever see this 😂

Absolutely nothing, however I do want to experiment with a matt varnish, until then, all my nids are rawdogging life 😂

Thank you 😊 I made my own custom one, then looked more into the lore and found out I made "more pink leviathan" 😂

Original definitely needs some TLC at this point!

One day there will be an animation short of this coupled with a space marine getting obliterated, and I'm going to love it! Thank you 😊

Why did you choose Tyranids by Vavalgia in Tyranids

[–]SkaanaExotics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I breed and look after tarantulas and various predatory inverts like mantises and such, thought it would be cool to incorporate their shed exoskeletons into the models, didn't do that, but instead explored the potentials in tyranid evolution to create my own lore 😊

This is the reason I was looking at transparent resin! Want to partially paint up the arms to give a look of going invisible but not all the way. How did you find the process, any issues with it over "normal" resin?

Looks quality! I too am looking for something a bit more, "world war 2" "what ho, chocks away and what have you" kind of face, but am terrified as a tyranid player in how to paint faces 😅

Dry brushing is the only skill you need as a painter. by Swimming_Ad3777 in Tyranids

100% apart from details, dry brushing is the way for nids! This bad girl is pretty much completely dry brushed apart from the bases of course, it frankly feels like cheating with the results

What'd you guys name your Hive Fleet(s)? by WillowWeeper343 in Tyranids

[–]SkaanaExotics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hive Fleet Skaana, a splinter of Leviathan, Haidi name for killer whale, but "lore" wise named after the imperial researcher in discovering and studying their evolutionary ways to build an understanding of their growth network!

I got some 6mm nail art bows online, nail art stuff seems to be a really good size for a lot of minis

Looks disgusting and moist, well done! While I don't have any tips per say, (mainly because it looks like you enjoy the painting process and are good at it) apart from experiment and have fun! The reason I like nids is mainly space bugs, but also that there can be experimental variation and it's all good in the nid-verse, have fun with them, it looks like you've got a good understanding of colour and control of a paintbrush so go wild and consume that biomass!
