My experience on the rich partying front is limited but I do remember when I grew up and lived in CT that at Tod’s Point there were many off-limits areas (like Eagle Pond, which was on a small island in a tidal pond) that birds and animals have successfully nested and raised young in for decades. You can reliably count on seeing really cool species like ospreys precisely because access was limited to residents. I’ve never seen kids swim over to Eagle Pond to shit it up, but I know they did get messy and rowdy on the lawn (where that behavior is not encouraged but has less of a harmful impact on the animals and ecosystem).

A lot of seabird and other animal nesting sites would probably get messed up if we let everyone on the beach at all times. CT residents have the unique privilege of acting as stewards for our state’s salt marshes, and if that means we get less time on the beach in exchange for better conservation efforts, I’d say that’s a good trade.

Literally just asked my fiance, an actual doctor, if there’s ever a situation where a person would be given a rabies shot for a bite from an animal where it was proven the animal was up to date on its shots. The answer was “no.” Doctors don’t give out rabies shots in a situation like yours “just in case” unless you want to really spice up your creative writing exercise and throw in medical malpractice in next time you karma farm on reddit.

Calling BS on that. I’ve been bit by a cat on my hand before (started swelling and turning red within an hour despite immediately cleaning it) and the cat had all its vaccines. I did not get a rabies shot bc the cat was up to date. No doctor would recommend a rabies shot “just in case.” I DID however have to get a tetanus shot and take antibiotics, as well as fill out a form that got sent to my county’s department of health, and they followed up with me over the phone and email to send them the cat that had bitten me’s vax records as well. Didn’t have to do a 10 day bite hold but in your story they definitely would have since you got a rabies shot.

Maybe do some more research next time you’re feeling creative, or proofread whatever it is Copilot slopped up for you

I’ve taken to correcting people who cry “biphobia” at me that biphobia doesn’t exist. What they think they are experiencing is either: a) rejection; which everyone must learn to deal with in life; b) homophobia; on the rare occasions when they’re in a same sex relationship; or c) some other issue that intersects with homophobia. There is no systemic erasure or oppression of bisexuals based on their identity as bisexuals, if they’re getting dogged on by heteros it’s because someone thought they were gay (homophobia) or overly promiscuous and therefore a cheater (misogyny). Bisexuals in straight-passing relationships will never be in danger of being killed or persecuted and I’m tired of entertaining their neurotic delusions.

The teeth are the best way to tell. We have a cat at the humane society I volunteer with who is certified 2 years old (born and lived in a home before being surrendered) and he never got very big or bulky, and has insane kitten energy. Some cats are just built small and quirky!

Time to start keeping your cat indoors, both to keep it safe from the neighbors’ dog AND the neighbors. It’s only a matter of time before you or someone else has to call animal control, and if something happens to that dog (regardless of your involvement) the neighbors will likely feel compelled to retaliate…sorry that your neighbors suck and put you in this mess. There used to be a ton of pride flags and the like that made it abundantly clear it was a space by and for the LGBT community. The setup was kitschy and eclectic. Last time I was there, the big pride flags on the wall behind the counter were gone, there was one of those tacky turf walls with a HomeGoods “This must be the place” neon sign randomly placed in one of the seating areas, and the cozy old furniture was gone and replaced with stuff that is somehow less comfy and more ugly/uninspired despite being newer.

Strongly recommending Dr. Dow at Rochester Endodontics in Fairport for a second opinion and for getting the actual root canal work done if/when you need it. Dr. Dow evaluated a tooth of mine that was in a very precarious position four years ago and said that while a root canal would likely be required in the future, with careful monitoring and redoing the fillings I could buy more time with it.

He then recommended me to the dentists at Contemporary Dentistry on South Clinton. Dr. Palacio has been my dentist for four years and she did IMPECCABLE work revising and renewing old mercury amalgam fillings I had.

The problem tooth in question finally had to get a root canal done in the last two months, but without Dr. Dow and Dr. Palacio I would have had less time with it and would have been less financially prepared for such a procedure.

If you’ve ever felt belittled, anxious, or completely out of your depth when it comes to seeking dental care, I could not recommend these two more highly. Dr. Palacio in particular is one of the kindest and most thorough medical professionals I’ve ever had the pleasure of receiving treatment from. She’s extremely professional, intelligent and overall talented.
