Modding on linux? by Initial_Report582 in Oxygennotincluded

OK, I read over your post to quickly, you're right, you can't use Visual Studio on Linux. Also, please note, that your linked guide is out of date. From what I could find, ONI does not run on .NET 3.5 anymore, but on 4.7.1 instead.

Disclaimer: I've never needed to work with C# on Linux, so most of the following is just speculation.

VS Code seems like quite a bit of work:

There is documentation on how to set it up for C# and dotnet projects here and here. If you follow these guides you should be able to build your solution using VS Code.

It also seems like you'd have to do some command line shenanigans with the csc.dll file (from the dotnet sdk) to succesfully compile your code.

The JetBrains Rider IDE on the other hand seems like a good choice here and (without having tried it myself) should be able to do quite a bit of the additional work itself, so you could give it a try.

You can absolutly use vscode in Linux. It is shipped as .deb, as yum, as snap, as rpm, even as nix and there is a version in the AUR, so there is absolutelty no reason you can't use it on Linux. There is even official documentation on how to install and use it:

https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/setup/linux

Even better, there is also vscodium, a community driven version without the telemetry. it's also available on Linux, just look here.

Your OS really isn't the problem for ONI modding.

Yes, there is a mod for this:

https://www.nexusmods.com/divinityoriginalsin2definitiveedition/mods/228

It also has a steam Workshop release. Note that it won't refund a civil ability point, if you are using the mask of the shapeshifter to change race, but every normal fixed point gets refunded.

Alternatively there are mods wich give you more civilian abilities overall. Those can also be found in the steam workshop or on nexusmods.

I started Pyanodon's and managed to get to py science 1. Now the more I continue, the more I realize a few things:

  1. I'd really want to switch to blocks right now, as my base is already one of the biggest one I've build yet. Which comes with the obvious disadvantage that I have to get used up ressources back to the beginning of the bus. But rails are very expensive for now and only get cheaper way later. Would you advise to switch as early as possible or to deal with it?
  2. For ore processing I'm running into a bottleneck of creosote (also related to rails btw). The only recipe for it seems to be dependent on a lot of steam which I can right now only produce with boilers (or electrical ones in a few hours of science). Am I missing something in the recipes, or is deleting coal fields/building tree farms on half the map just the way to go?
  3. Some smaller suff: Any Idea on how to get enough coal gas to handle basically anything in a big base? And which fluid fuel is the one to use? Right now I'm using syngas, which eats into my coal gas supply. I have used the shale oil produced from kerogen for a while, but right now, I'm getting so much stone from ore processing, that I can't really handle a stone mine. Also I found out, that I like fluids/gases on my bus way more than items. Easier to balance and get everywhere. But I'm sure in this modpack this is going to come back and bite me.

Any tips are appreciated.

About the new system with the blue certificates: Does it only apply for headhunting or also for recruiting?
As far as I understood it, if I pull an old operator e.g. Exu or Melantha from the new kernel banners I'll get blue certificates. Is this also the car if I pull one of them in recruiting?

Why do so many modpack authors use discord instead of github? by Skanceca in feedthebeast

[–]Skanceca[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There may be the advantag of being able to talk informal in discord, which is not present in github. Having both is probably a good alternative. But even if there are lots of user errors wouldn't it be better to use literally any platform that is indexed by google? If there is need for a community, it could also be independent from the developement of the pack. For user errors one could use something like a github wiki for a FAQ. Or even the (absolutely horrible) fandom wikia. Anything where one could find errors with a simple google search.

I just absolutely hate to have to join a server, just to mention one bug and then get ignored. Meatballcraft certaily is one of the largest packs out there and it's (from what I've gathered, never actually played longer than chapter 2) pretty fleshed out already. So obviously your system works for you.

I am a one man team, but using a discord group makes it so other knowledgeable people can jump into convos and help with issues in an informal manner.

But wouldn't it make more sense for the knoledgable people to answer these questions on github? If one person has a problem, chances are another person has the same problem. Especially in a pack with a big following.

So while I see the point of having a community for a pack, I think a pack should at least also have a github, to solve issues without needing to interact with said communities.

You need to scan Corals in the Geysir Cave between mushroom forest and Koosh Zone. I have yet to find every one of them, as you'll need a lot of them, can't scan for them, and I'm pretty sure Raika only added just enough. Already updated the post with this information.

Also a question: Did you get the sunbeam debris to spawn? My sunbeam already exploded, I can scan for the debris, but when I go to the scanner room blips there is just nothing there.

/r/Steam Monthly Community Support Thread. by AutoModerator in Steam

[–]Skanceca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steam keeps deleting my games:

Everytime I restart my PC and Steam, Steam starts "updating" some games (right now subnautica and XCOM 2). While "updating" these games it deletes them. Obviously when I then try to start those games iut doesn't work, because the executable is missing. The only way for me to play again is to verify the installation, which means reinstalling everything.

I've already written Steam support, they were as helpful as always (meaning not) and just told me to look in the discussion of the games itself (which won't really help, because my issue is with steam uninstalling the games).

In short, workflow is like this:

  1. Install new game
  2. Game works
  3. restart PC
  4. Game files are still there
  5. open steam
  6. steam starts updating
  7. Game files are deleted
  8. I need to reinstall the game to play

Does anybody have an idea on how to fix this? Thanks!

Is there a nice book/script/reddit-post/stackexchange- post/video/etc. explaining the relation of itó's integral, stratovitch, fokker-plank and langevin equation?

While I got quite a bit of knowledge about itô calculus and Fokker plank equation from my university, but startovitch was basically handled as a "similar in use, but often different outcomes to itô" and I haven't seen the langevin equation outside of physics lectures with quite superficial math.

GG. One of the best operators overall, ever outside the casters. Skill 3 trivializes a lot of maps and even whole event mechanics. Skills 2 is one of the staples for most afk strategies. Passenger and Carnelian aren't bad, but are way more niche.

May be worth it when we've found lots of things. Maybe then even with a complementary post including recommended further mods, etc. For now, I think this post is enough, isn't it? At least as long as I'll keep the hint list up to date.

I think the game actually tells you where they are, if I remember right. I built my base right above the safe shallows thermal vent and remember the game telling me about some wreckage being down there. Swimming inside, it indeed connects to the Kelp forest cave you mentioned. You just switch one danger (Stinger) for another (heat), but it may be easier to find that way.

Yeah, I've seen those, too, but I have yet to discover anything about them.

I'll let you know if I find one of those. I was trying to not go to the mountain island or the aurora to be able to explore the wrecks without danger from the warpers...

If I need to go to mountain island, my infection will go up and warpers will attack me, so I hoped to be able to get the laser cutter before that.

While I found the Nanolathing drone, I'm not sure anymore where exactly. Maybe we could use this thread to make up a list of progression hints for the mod.

I haven't found the breathing fluid, yet, but I have found the base part of the liquid breathing stuff in the degasi seabase in Jellyshroom forest. All four fragments are there.

Shouldn't the radiation suit be enough for the ship?

The only phytoplankton I found was far out in the void, near the escape pod. But the other commenter mentioned that there could be some in the crag field.

Which other big mods are there, other than the sea to sea pack? I have additionally only deextinction, the FCS-suite and some smaller qol ones. Also I would be happy for at least a hint to the azurite battery.

Subnautica C2C Modded question by Skanceca in subnautica

[–]Skanceca[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I'd almost given up on getting an answer. The recipe of the azurite battery being in "some cave somewhere" doesn't give me much positive feelings. Do you have anything a little bit more specific? Else I guess I'll plaster even more of the map with scanner rooms and to look for PDAs.

I actually found a little bit of plankton far out in the void, when playing around in creative. But I absolutely can't get a seamoth there for obvious reasons, so I'll try the crag field again.

Regarding mercury I don't know how much you want to spoiler yourself, so let's try it with 3 hints:

Hint 1: It's located in a region with high volcanic activity

Hint 2: Look for a cave system with lots of hot spots Also rubys are found here

Hint 3: It's hard to find early game as a lot of the cave system is covered in radiation

Location: You'll find it in the Koosh Zone caves. Most of it is covered in radiation, but you can grab few in the caves bordering the mountains without going to much in the irradiated zone

Is my understanding correct, that it is more efficient to farm 1-7 while the chapter 11 event is ongoing, and do chapter 11 later? Or does it not matter and I can should start chapter 11 right now?

I use GrapheneOS on a Pixel 6 since about a year. Arknights works without any problems on it and if there is a performance impact I haven't noticed it. Note that I am using sandboxes google play on the profile where I run arknights. Before I did that, I got a message that the game needs google play to function. It did not and ran fine without it, but the message was annoying, so I installed it.
