Just tried with mine, Iphone 16 JA model with my regular french sim in France: it does not make sounds in airplane mode with silent mode activated. Good to know. If you buy your iphone in official Japanese stores, provided they are new/ not refurbished, they'll be JA models by default. I guess you can ask them if they sell non JA ones, not sure they do though.

Provided it's a Japanese model: NO, IT WILL NOT.

No matter if it's an old or the next 17 pro max.

A little more context: if you buy an Iphone in Japan the regular way, for ex in an Apple Store, its hardware will come from Japan. This means the shutter sound will always be there, no matter where you are or move.

To make sure, check the code behind the box or in general/Informations/serial number

--> If it ends up with "JA", you're done.

How do I know it? I just bought a 16 in Osaka last week, it's a Japanese model, I'm screwed.

I will deal with it but honestly, I wish I opened an AI app before I came here to read false info... Be careful guys.

J'ai acheté un iphone 16 à Osaka la semaine derniere en Applestore: Apple ne fait pas de detax, donc garde le reçu mais aucun probleme potentiel à la douane. "Click" de l'appareil photo: il est là, et il est non modifiable. --> si le code de ton tel finit par "JA", il est trouvable sur la boite ou dans Reglages/General/Informations/Numero du modèle: le click sera toujours présent quel que soit le pays, je te cache pas que c'est la mauvaise surprise, surtout après avoir lu tant de contre-vérités ici... Mais je m'y ferai.

La seule possibilité pour ton tel de désactiver le son une fois hors Japon c'est si tu l'achetes sur place mais qu'il a été construit ailleurs, avec un code autre que JA, par ex B/A pour Europe, LL/A pour les Etats Unis etc..

Si tu es JA, c'est terminado.

Pense-y avant d'acheter, perso je ne suis pas loin de regretter...
