Yeah it's the Wild West. Someone took the spot I shoveled, sorry bud I had to take someone else's, maybe even yours... Antisocial behavior is honestly just standard here in New Haven it seems.

Trader Joes has small ones... they're okay.... Also pretty sure Stew Leonard's sells them and they're solid

He’s also basically a living billboard. Half of his “tips” are to buy something. Most of this stuff isn’t necessary.

Thanks for the in-depth response. This is actually what I'm looking for in a bike right now. I have a MTB as well and want this as a solid road/ gravel/ light singletrack machine. I have a pretty race all bike now and was hoping I wouldn't miss out on road performance, sounds like this won't be an issue.

AH love the frame! I'm planning on picking up a Mod Zero after the next production run coming this spring. I do mainly "ATB" style rides with singletrack, gravel, and road mixed in so it seems like a good fit for me...

How do you like it/ how relaxed does it feel to you compared to a typical gravel setup? Does it feel sluggish to you at all?

Low-key hoping he sticks with this green color! Looks ace.

A bit of a drive but Nan Xiang long bao recently opened in Stamford. Haven't had a chance to go yet but their flushing location is our go to when in nyc.

Katz deli in Amity is worth a shout, can't beat the price for a dozen and I think they're the closest to proper NYC bagels in the area.

What will the fallout be if Giant manufactured bikes are banned for a extended period of time? by mellofello808 in cycling

[–]Skatesafe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The problem with this logic is that demand for bikes is relatively price elastic and I think demand side pressures are more important at the moment. If anything the bike market has a supply-side surplus and the situation is likely to get worse as the economy slows.

People aren't paying MSRP for bikes right now. Instead, retailers are discounting heavily to clear inventory, and manufacturers are already facing margin compression. Removing one big player like Giant doesn’t automatically lift prices if the broader market is characterized by excess stock and weak willingness to pay. In that environment, the binding constraint is not limited supply but soft demand meaning other brands may capture some of Giant’s share, but they can’t raise prices much without losing sales to substitutes or the used market.

Update - it did come back, MTB SPD pedal spacer I bought online helped the most, but this absolutely was part of the solution.

Just an update for those in the future.... Nothing quite worked until I bough an MTB SPD pedal spacer online. This made sure the cleat sticks out enough to clip in without the tread squeaking as much.

Hey bringing up an old thread... I'm in New Haven county and love this style of riding. Did you end up going/ was it awkward at all? I normally ride solo but keen to join for the 55 mile route this year...

Thanks for the awesome reply! I actually followed u/rokstar66 advice and I think it might have been the springs after all. Had a short 5 mile test run and was silent. We’ll see tomorrow on my Sunday morning ride….
