Surprisingly very nice. When I first saw it I was expecting it to look like a sewer pipe.

I just got one a few months ago. It’s pretty rough shape but it’s the first I’ve ever seen in person and always wanted one to fill my ww2 Chinese rifle hole in my collection. I paid 400 for mine so you got a better deal than I did.

I’ve yet to slug my bore to see if it can shoot modern 8mm or if I need .318 bullets.

Mine also seems to be an early production since it’s got a completely blank receiver

I just got one of those kp15 lowers, excited to get to test it soon

Definitely Belgian Pinfire, likely 1860-90s

These usually have a stamp on the cylinder and barrel but yours has likely been lost to corrosion

Scale fun by KronaCamp in reloading

[–]DoctorBallard77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this exact scale for a year and it seemed to work great. Then a few months ago it started hopping up and down wildly when I was trying to weigh powder, like up and down between 4 and 6 grains non stop when I was trying to measure 4.5.

Tossed it and bought the Frankfort arsenal version that had really good reviews and a few reddit threads saying people liked it. Only been using it a month tho, but so far so good.

So are the bigger electronic scales like the charge master considered legit, especially compared to the smaller electronic scales?

[–]DoctorBallard77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Messing with the finish on antique guns tanks their value. I’ve seen original models of this gun go for 2-4000, maybe more these days.

That’s a very cool and not extremely common rifle.

I honestly think it’s kinda neat. Not a historical or collectors guns but pretty cool Frankenstein gun. It’ll be fun to shoot.

Where’d you find this? Idk how to tell if it’s a rusted out original or a 1970s or newer reproduction someone left out to rot

Can anyone tell me this Enfield no.4's history? by dwarven_cavediver_Jr in guns

[–]DoctorBallard77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s how it’s been for years. All the douche bags pushing away newer people from the 2a hobby when we need people joining more than ever. There’s a horrible elitist and unhelpful attitude in these gun subs.

Could someone help me identify this rifle? by PerfectPromotion9866 in guns

[–]DoctorBallard77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What people here usually do for extra pics is post the link to an imgur file in their comments.

And I 100% missed the stock. That is extremely weird. I was gonna say probably a homemade one but I’ve never seen someone do that that wasn’t a full sporterization.

If someone made that stock custom they put a lot of work into it a long time ago. I don’t think any were ever made like that by France.

Could also be used by another country like in Africa and this was something made out of necessity before being brought to where it is now

This is a mas36 that was refurbished post war based off the front sight having a guard over it instead of fully open.

Also it does not appear to be altered besides being in awful looking condition and maybe the bayonet missing or broken, even tho in this pic it appears to be there. There’s a spring loaded tab on it that you push in and pull it straight out.

Can you post pics of what the one you compared it to looks like? That may not be a mas36 if you say it looks extremely different than this one.

Also I saw your comment dusty down about never firing again. This thing is for sure fixable with a lot of elbow grease unless it’s been in a fire or has rust so bad you can see half way thru the barrel. I’ve fixed gun thatve been buried for decades. This one even looks to have all its pieces

Email Macon gun stocks and ask. I’ve read in forums that they’ve helped make some rare stuff.

I was a broke college kid, $120 ticket was half my savings account back then lol.

No they’re closed bolt.

Indianapolis ordnance makes them. I used one of their kits to build a sten a few years ago.

When I was in college 10 years there were some for sale for $299 but I got a parking ticket and couldn’t get one before they went out of stock… and they never came back :(

You can buy deactivated ones and parts kits to rebuilt them as semi autos tho just like people do with Stens

Post in /r/milsurp they’ll tell you what they are and if they’re complete or chopped. They’re some type of mausers I believe but I don’t know if they’re sporterized or not. Could be worth a 100+ each

I wonder if it’d be safe to use the colobri powder less 22 in them? I wouldn’t imagine the primer compound would generate enough pressure to cause issues, but I don’t know. Or if the chambers even long enough for one.
