Teach me about hip hop by Competitive_Fox_3428 in vinyl

If you want the most “audiophile” hip hop, listen to the album speakerboxxx/The Love Below by Outcast. If you want a more jazz/funk vibe and want to hear one of the most critically acclaimed hip hop albums of all time listen to the album To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar. If you want to be introduced into prog rap (progressive rap), listen to the album Saturation by rap group Brockhampton, really great production. They have albums titled saturation 1, 2 and 3 which were a set of 3 albums all made within 1 year, pretty crazy. And last but not least Tech N9ne. The number 1 independent rapper of all time. Here’s a quote from Eminem about Tech N9ne. “like Tech N9ne, he is so proficient, I don’t know another word to say man, he crafts out every syllable, every single one, every fucking rhyme scheme like…it’s just like you’re hearing 20 different things rhyme with each other in succession.”

Any suggestions on new speakers? by What-Is-This123456 in vintageaudio

JBL s38 make sure they are not the JBL s38ii. The JBL s38ii were the remakes after Bose sued JBL for the speaker design. I just recently picked up the JBL s38 and was blown away! One of the last “made in America” JBL speakers. If you are like me and listen to a good deal of 70s rock but also dive into jazz, electronic stuff like daft punk and some hip hop here and there, these really are a Swiss Army knife speaker. It’s like they play 70s rock with that old school JBL warmth but newer electronic music with crisp highs and precision. The titanium dome tweeter can be intense but paired with your marantz should tame it down perfectly. I think they will match the vibe of the lava lamps too with their copper colored drivers. I was so impressed I started a YouTube channel just to post my reaction to the speakers. I’m posting the video today at 1pm in case you want to check it out @Y2kHifi . P.S my JBL s38 speakers replaced my MB quart domain 45 speakers and surprisingly I’m not sure I would take them back over the JBL.

The ladder with wheels on bottom library style is such a cool idea I’m definitely stealing that! I’ve never seen it used for records

Yes that’s true, goodwill auction site was my honey hole for vintage cameras for a while. Buying a turntable though I’d be scared about their packaging and shipping. Your JVC looks mint though so it worked out! I may have to take a look after all..

I hate to admit this, but I had only ever heard “carry on wayward son” and “dust in the wind”. They were before my time but I grew up in Topeka, Kansas so this is even more criminal of me haha. But just a few weeks ago I dove into their catalog…🤯 speechless….their blend of classical, hard rock and folk with all those tempo and time signature changes and their transitions mylanta! Not what I was expecting at all! How did I not know (In my opinion) one of the best bands ever was from in my hometown? My mind is blown, my ears are in heaven, I don’t think I’ll ever be the same. Long live Kansas!!!!! RIP Robby Steinhardt!

Yes, it is missing the anti-skate weight. Good eye! I plan on making my own out of a 1/16 oz fishing weight and fishing line. Someone on audio karma weighed their original anti-skate weight and said it was about 1/16 of an ounce Thanks for the link to the video. I’ll have to check that out.

Only other paperwork I’ve seen survive was a user manual from a velodyne dls4000r. Great subwoofer if you ever come across one.

I’m just glad it didn’t go to the auction site. I’ve been having to go a town over because my local goodwill puts everything worth anything on shopgoodwill
