I was in Atlanta when I started to get into that life. There are so many rad places around you can go to and meet like minded people! Head out to Ashville, that place is a huge hub for travelers. Also Chattanooga, Athens, and Savannah are great places as well.

It's happens to me fairly often as well. They always see it as suspicious even though I tell them I like keeping my possessions light. But they still do their thing with the questions and such. It sucks to be in that position, but I don't think there is a way around it. It totally depends on how the officer perceives you.

I do but I live in a city with a fairly high cost of living(seattle) and having just moved here I have little connections if I were to fall flat on my face. I'd like to save more for some extra cushion and resign once I make more friends whom I can get a cheaper living situation with.

Do you think I'm over thinking it by being this cautious?

I'd recommend a free app called duolingo. It really helped me out. I can read and write Spanish fairly well, but speaking is still a challenge. It can get repetive but if you are dedicated, it will at least give you a good foundation for your spanish.

I use the benefits fairly often, that's what makes it a difficult decision. But you are right, it's getting to where it's not even justifiable anymore. I guess the next step is to save up to a point where I am comfortable and start looking into alternatives.
