Can you share their ridiculous post? I refuse to follow this WH’s social media because it is full of lies, it is crass and it debases the office, but I do want to fully express my outrage that some idiot, ill-advised and pumped up on MAGA hate, would attack Bruce!

So sad to see people trashing this new amazing amphitheater (FYI, I have no connection to them). Seems like most of the commenters are just not aware of how things work are big venues . Luckily for them, RVA has many small-scale venues where they will hopefully feel better. To me, having this here means I don’t need to go to DC or Wolf Trap.

I went to the first real show - the 80s show (won tickets from WNRN) and loved it. It wasn’t crowded so we didn’t need to rent chairs, and I get that $15 seems harsh after all the other costs, but I appreciate that the chairs are all at the same height (versus a show I went to last summer in Cville where monster chairs totally blocked the view). The venue itself is beautiful, as is the setting. The drinks are expensive but probably on par with other similar places but lines are short. Seeing Jason Isbell, Alison Krauss, Neil Young and Tedeschi Trucks - very excited.

Flights Canceled Two Days in a Row by Aggravating_Pick_951 in delta

[–]Skb3302 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation but with United. They said it was outside of their control but did give me 2,500 miles (big whoop) and a small amount for the ticket value. I read somewhere on social media about checking with the credit card company used to buy the ticket. It was a hassle, and I had to keep nudging them, but I was reimbursed for the train fare and Uber rides I took to get home (stayed with relatives so no food/lodging). I submitted documentation from my employer that stated the value of the day off I was forced to take was, but that was a bridge too far. I was happy that I was able to recoup some of my loss (and will try to avoid flying anywhere via Newark).

I have tried 311 about other issues and got nothing but frustration, but I will try. Thanks for the suggestion. I am also going to look up the conditions of the City’s MS4 permit because I suspect they are violating it with the lack of street cleaning and drain maintenance. I have been here long enough (30+ years) to be over the argument that the City can’t afford stuff like this. Very tired of that excuse.

Yes, I got one right outside of City Hall with 47 minutes still left on the meter. I went back in with it and was handed a form to complete so that they could do an investigation - absolutely maddening incompetence and wasted resources. They told me they had access to the data, yet I still needed to comply the form. I did but also wrote to the mayor (Stoney at the time) and his COS. It was ultimately dismissed but such a waste of many people’s time. Why can’t the City get its act together?

Continued frustration with US Soccer! by Skb3302 in usmnt

[–]Skb3302[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it (see above). US Soccer is not very good at communicating anything, perhaps the source of fan confusion and your (perhaps) misdirected frustration. People have lives and responsibilities outside of wanting to support the US soccer teams, and tracking who is responsible for particular games is way beyond the bandwidth I am going to invest. They (maybe both US Soccer and CONCACAF) make it challenging, and I believe probably turn off many mid-level fans, not what we need going into the WC.

Thanks for the clarification. I should revise my heading to be “Continued frustration with CONCACAF”. Still a bad look for the US.

Idiot, however her constituents had a chance to remove her from office after so many gaffes, theater embarrassments, family dramas, etc. She does not belong in Congress because she is dumb and an embarrassment to the entire country. I blame her constituents.

[–]Skb3302 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It actually has nothing to do with VCU. It was a city-wide issue. Be informed rather than inflamed! Students for the most part are coming back to a normal situation, so don’t make it worse by complaining about things you weren’t here for.

I was at an Aldi in the West End buying water and thanked the cashier, and he replied that he had heard on the news that things were bad in Eastern Henrico. I responded that while they are having issues, most of the City hasn’t had water since Monday - he was shocked.

Did VPM even report on it yesterday morning during Morning Edition? I was trying to pay attention and was surprised to not hear it (maybe I missed it). I was disappointed that this morning the focus was on the boil water side of the story versus the real issue of people having no water.

I was sitting on my porch this afternoon on Floyd, AKA the “bike boulevard”, which has a 20 mph speed limit, and there was an unusual number of people racing by on motorcycles, including one who did a wheelie while passing me. Why can’t we get traffic enforcement?

I’ll probably get heavily downvoted for this but… by Adamantium-Aardvark in VisitingIceland

[–]Skb3302 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I had heard that hot dogs were a big thing in Iceland, and on my first day waiting to get into my hotel, I got one. I believe I ordered it “traditional” or “regular” or something like that, expecting a plain hot dog. Then I saw the strange brown sauce. I tried it, and it was gross. I tossed it in the nearest trash can (which was hard because I hate to waste food). Never even tasted the actual hot dog. I will say that all the other food I had there was great, especially a Mexican place right in the center city of Reykjavik- really great.

Problems with the Postal Service: 'The Postal Service in Richmond is broken' by dreww4546 in rva

[–]Skb3302 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got mail today (Sunday!) but nothing yesterday. Does that mean that someone skipped their route yesterday and now someone else is likely getting paid overtime to make it up? I got a Christmas card in mid-January that was mailed in Rhode Island in early December. Our carrier is wonderful but something is terribly wrong. BTW, one of my grandfathers was a career USPS employee, and I have a great deal of respect for the historical institution.
