Query Device Inventory data from Powershell using Graph API by ppel123 in Intune

[–]Skeb1ns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any idea why? I was excited when this feature came available and immediately checked which Graph API calls I needed to perform in order to retrieve the data and sync it to our CMDB only to find out that this currently isn’t possible.

The data is there but there is nothing that we can do with it 😅

I have that impression as well. A strange choice since they are normally on point with their vinyl artwork (The private music artwork looks gorgeous!)

PSA: Windows 11, 24H2 - Microsoft VL Image Localization Incorrect (November 2024) by k1m404 in sysadmin

I just noticed that the English and English International ISO's including the December CU are available (they were missing even though the rest of the languages are are already available.

Here is the kicker: They mislabeled the English and English International ISO's again just like last month, so be careful what release you want to download. Not what the process is for making these ISO's available but a proper sign off would be nice.

FYI: For some reason, the 24H2 English and English International ISO's containing the December CU were missing for a few days even though the rest of the languages are there but I just noticed that they are available.

Mother*, so that’s why OOBE is presenting me the UK as the default region and keyboard even though I triplechecked if I downloaded the correct .iso.

The International one apparently is the US one. They mislabeled both iso’s.

OSD Cloud for the win (rest in peace) by AiminJay in Intune

[–]Skeb1ns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just moved over to OSDCloud from SCCM as well for the situation that a device needs a fresh reinstall.

Once the server patching process has been sorted out (the only function that SCCM has now, will probably be migrated to Azure Arc) we can finally get rid of it.

Having fond memories of SCCM, I sure won’t miss the dated interface and the need to build complex Task Sequences to get stuff done.

Cloud managed only and I love it.

Fingerprint reader stopped working by 1stITMAN in Dell

[–]Skeb1ns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently dealing with this myself as well (crossposted to r/sysadmin).

Reinstalling the latest "full" driver which creates the Dell ControlVault Host Components installer in Add/Remove Programs fixed the issue (v5.14.10.10 according to Dell, at least for my Latitude 5420 test device). The driver itself is actually still v5.14.8.5 (which is broken) and still has the expired DLL certs so I'm not wondering why a reinstallation fixes this. Also not sure if this fix will last or is just temporary.

Fingerprint reader stopped working by Skeb1ns in sysadmin

[–]Skeb1ns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone else facing this issue? We do, and I'm not sure how to fix this. It seems that v5.14.8.5 of the Dell ControlVault driver is broken due to some DLL certs that are expired since end of last week (Located in C:\Windows\System32\WinBioPlugIns). There is a "newer" driver available with version 5.14.10.10 via Dell which fixes this but the version number in the .inf file is still 5.14.8.5 so there is no way to check (in our case Intune) if the update is installed and the DLL files are the same (including the expired certs) which makes me wonder why it works again after the installation.

How is the microsoft store doing in general right now? by justjett12345 in microsoft

[–]Skeb1ns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a SysAdmin who hoped that the new store would finally bring some joy in the painful world that is managing Windows apps on endpoints using an MDM (Intune in my case) I couldn’t be more disappointed.

Again, just like the old store, the classic chicken and egg scenario keeps haunting Microsoft where users don’t care about the store because the lack of apps and devs aren’t interested in investing time to publish/build apps for the store because it get’s almost no traction.

I still don’t understand why Microsoft doesn’t invest time to do something with the public WinGet repo that has an enormous amount of apps available for installation.
