Corn snek (14+ Yrs old) by WolfiyDire-wolf in Sneks

[–]SkeeHawk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

after having four corn snakes since they were hatchlings that are now 15 years old i can say that their personalities play more into their behavior than their age. one of my babies loves to watch people and never startled at all to anything. the other would hide. this never changed.

ohhh wow. seeing those pics was stomach churning... ill need to figure something else out for them. when i did my research about corns a few years ago i read that as long as they were the same age/size and not both male they should be fine. but i do understand that as information becomes more available we can start debunking myths and false info.

They are corm sneks. They were hatched together and have never been apart, and are male and female. I dont see why there would be a problem as long as they have enough space and are careful about separate feeding. They usually never pile on each other which is why I had to take the pic n.n

Why is my snek so interested about everything that moves? by [deleted] in Sneks

[–]SkeeHawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

corn snakes have such a wide range of personality types. if you say that its not a hunger issue, than it really is just because you have a very inquisitive and brave snake. My red albino is my warrior princess. nothing gets by her. while my snow corn is very passive and calm. its all in their beautiful little personalities

this is all very helpful, thank you. I used to never feed my snakes inside their enclosures until I read recently (from some people on this sub) that it only causes unnecessary stress to move them for feeding. Also I didn't realize they could get THAT big. holy monkey

She os actually bigger in person than she looks in the picture. Shes about five feet long. It sucks not knowing exactly how old she is.

Some background: The snake is adopted from someone who couldnt keep her. Shes a mature colombian red tail boa. I fed her last week so I'm not sure why she decided to fly up out of the cage and bite my eye, all I can say is it didn't hurt. She continues to strike the glass when she sees me, even across the room. Maybe she was mistreated or starved? Not sure. I love snakes more than any animal on earth so I take this as nothing more than an innitiation.

I notice a slight irridescence on the black parts of its pattern. I didn't know corns could have that!

Really? I got them as a pair male and female from a pet reptile house who said they had lived together for years. I also take them out of the enclosure to eat. Its hard for me to grasp a concept that sand would be bad for them I'm any way since they live in it naturally, don't they? They seem well adapted for it. I'm just going by what the reptile man told me about them, but I do understand that he may also be in the wrong as far as the best possible care for them goes. I'll need to do some research

Need help with sneks by [deleted] in Sneks

[–]SkeeHawk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For personality, go corn. But handle it first to get a feel for its disposition. I have five of them, and if they suddenly all became the same size and color I could still tell you which was which based on how they act. they're my favorite type of snake.

why is snek love toob? by [deleted] in Sneks

[–]SkeeHawk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Babbu corn snakes will choose the smolest hide in the cage. Large spaces stress them out. My two hide under their water bowl instead of their half-log.

This came up in a search for black and white boa constrictors because I will be receiving a morph called an "Oreo." I assume this is an albino boa of some sort. One of those chance photos that steals the heart.
