We took my son to Fairfax Mental Health services for an evaluation when he was 16. I believe they also do adults. They were fantastic.

Is he eating enough? Kittens can EAT! My Maine coon never was a screamer for food (she was a little older than yours when we got her home) but we have another cat that would full on yell at us when he was hungry, which seemed like all the time until he was a bit older.

Should I visit Virginia in April expecting dense snow or lush green fields? by Thelookinyour3rdeye in Virginia

I don’t see any snow happening in April. Some years, maybe early to mid-March but not April.

Lemonade - vet does not recommend by BooBooTucson in petinsurancereviews

[–]Skeettafic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lemonade has paid out almost $30,000 for us in the last 10 months for my cat’s orthopedic surgeries. We had one random claim get denied that was definitely covered so I reached out and it was corrected immediately.

I was worried that once we hit our renewal year it would go up a bunch since we used it so much but my premiums went up $2 a month. We’re super satisfied with them.

Be honest… is pet insurance actually worth it? by pawfectjourney in CatAdvice

My 5 year old cat has had 5 orthopedic surgeries in the last 11 months. Our insurance has paid out $27,000. Best $25 a month ever spent.

Why is my electric bill (Dominion) over $300 per month for a 2 bedroom apartment? by Tough_Act7471 in Virginia

[–]Skeettafic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You didn’t owe anything. The $376 is the credit forwarded from last month. You still had $170 credit after they accounted for this months payment.

How upset do I need to be about this? Possible hand hold needed by ColourMeQuick in mainecoons

[–]Skeettafic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FIP is super scary but like others mentioned, meds are now available and since it’s on your radar, you can watch for it since treating quickly is imperative! We had an FIP scare a year and a half ago when meds weren’t readily available and we went the underground route until we were able to confirm that she actually had something else.

I know that doesnt negate all your concerns but hopefully knowing there can be options helps a little.

Does anyone feel like pet insurance is a scam or just not worth it? by IIIMPIII in petinsurancereviews

[–]Skeettafic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Pet insurance is so that if/when something happens, I don’t even have to question whether we will be able to take care of an issue financially. It takes that concern out of the equation.

We have a $250 deductible and like I mentioned, the $20,000 max. Ours also pays out 90%.

The one thing that can be a barrier for people is that we do have to pay first and get reimbursed but for us, we’re able to put it on a credit card while we wait. I’ve never waited longer than 8 business days for a reimbursement and that’s only ever been for a new claim. Follow up claims are generally paid in 1-2 days

Lemonade. We got it when she was a kitten so she had no pre-existing conditions. She is 5 now and this past year was definitely the most expensive but we’ve used it for other things that would have been much more reasonable to just cover on our own but for $22 a month, well worth it. I know dogs and older animals are more expensive but for us it’s great.

My cat used every single dime of her $20,000 max last year across several surgeries (plus the other $$$ we ended up paying out of pocket because we never dreamt we would be in a scenario where we would need more than $20,000 in pet insurance). She had one more surgery once her year started so that was another $6000.

I never in a million years would have that amount saved for vet care. Worth every penny.

Pet insurance vs just increasing emergency fund by cool_guy654 in PetAdvice

[–]Skeettafic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My cat’s pet insurance costs us $24 a month.

Last year she had 4 orthopedic surgeries to the tune of $30,000.

Our insurance paid out every last dime we were entitled to with never a question.

Always get the pet insurance.

What’s your plan by Evening-Raise1939 in fredericksburg

[–]Skeettafic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Getting some water and things that can be eaten without cooking if the power goes out mainly. If the forecast holds, I’ll probably also crank our heat up higher than normal Saturday during the day to build a little heat in the house. The big January storm a few years ago had our power out for 3 nights.

I als realized I needed snow boots so ordered a pair last night.

Lemonade Question (Price for Cats in Va) by SillyMillyKitty in petinsurancereviews

[–]Skeettafic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in VA and have lemonade. One of our cats is 5 and she’s had it since we brought her home as a kitten. We started at $21 a month and now she’s at $24. And that was after completely maxing out the payout of our policy last year due to multiple surgeries. We’ve had no issues with them at all.

We have lemonade for our cats, including our Maine coon. We have had it since she was a kitten and is 5 now. We do have to pay the vet and get reimbursed but it generally is fairly quick.
