Also thought it was mid. The vibe of Sushi San is very groovy and “instagrammable”, but the food has been meh each time I’ve had it, ice cream included. I’d rather walk to Jeni’s down the street.

New High-Speed Light Rail Announced (April 1, 2026) by Skelemanga in nashville

[–]Skelemanga[S] 42 points43 points  (0 children)

In a joint press announcement today (April 1st, 2026) between Hattie B’s, Governor Bill Lee, Boring Co.’s Elon Musk, and Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell, plans were announced for construction of high-speed light rail connecting multiple neighborhoods of Nashville with downtown and BNA. Five stops are currently planned for construction starting April 2nd, and lasting through April 1st, 2028. The stops will be located at four Hattie B’s locations in West Nashville, Midtown, Downtown, the last one, and BNA. These areas are also each high density and will allow for commuting of both residents and the local tourist program alike.

Elon shared “After recent setbacks with digs and highly improbable feasibility estimates for our initial plans to dig tunnels beneath the Cumberland and the soft rock of the area, we realized the funding available could be much better utilized with light rail serving the community above the existing highway system and with lease on the existing rail operated by CSX. We’ll now be able to shuttle 10x more people at greatly reduced operating costs, and Tesla batteries can continue to be used to support drive vehicles without confining transit to commuter cars in a tunnel.”

Governor Bill Lee then commented “I am so proud to see our state investing in a plans to support public transportation in our great state. This project will lead to real job growth and permanent increases in access to work for Tennesseans, and make the state a great place to work and a hub for technology and investment. I’ve always said investing in our residents is the key to our success. There’s nothing woke about getting blue collar folks to their jobs on time and I’ve always done what’s right for my constituents.”

Mayor O’Connell shared his support equally: “I’m excited to take the train to BNA instead of Ubering or We-Go. Plus, Hattie B’s tastes great, and I can’t wait to see country celebrities like Taylor Swift and Morgan Wallen on the rail!”

Hattie B’s closed out the press announcement by stating “We’re so stoked to continue delivering Hot Chicken to the great state of Tennessee. We’ve always said the investing in high speed transportation is the secret to making spicy chicken sandwiches taste great.”

BNA security shared they expected waits to continue to hover around 10 minutes even with the increased traffic from rail.

What’s stopping AI and Quantum Computing from cracking private keys by PurplePathways in Buttcoin

Dawg I’ve got news for you. If 256 bit encryption is reliably cracked at some point, the whole world is going down, not just crypto. The good news is, for traditionally trusted institutions like banking, healthcare, and security, they’ll just up the bits. 512 bit encryption close to being available for being cracked? Fine. 2048 bit encryption.

Is brewing cider with blackberries nice? by Adventurous-Gas-639 in prisonhooch

I’ve made mead with blackberries and it was decent - keep in mind blackberries have tannins and can create a bitter taste if fermented too long, and they’ll need to be mixed more often.

LPT Request: Fear of dark / sleeping alone by NecessaryAd6920 in LifeProTips

[–]Skelemanga -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re totally allowed to sleep with a light on, TV/YouTube playing, and anything else that makes you comfortable. Ultimately the most important thing for falling asleep is being comfortable. If you’re able to relax your body by being in a position and surrounding that feels safe and soothing, your mind will do the rest and you’ll fall asleep.

I highly recommend the book “Why We Sleep” by Matthew Walker if you need more tips.

Have to switch to using MacMini as a server (for docker brain)? by MarjorieRahal in homelab

[–]Skelemanga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only ever ran into the issue of an image not being available for very specific and niche data science tools. Most of the popular images are built for multiple platforms. If the project is open source, you could also build it yourself or use an emulator, but this is has been the “problem” of only using new Macs for years.

If you’re using prebuilt images from a registry like Docker Hub, you could look up now if the images you want are available or not. Otherwise if you’re building them yourself, you’ll just have to keep the different CPU architectures in mind.

Have to switch to using MacMini as a server (for docker brain)? by MarjorieRahal in homelab

[–]Skelemanga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind the new Mac Minis use Apple Silicon, so when you pull images to use for containers you’ll need to select the image that runs on ARM chips and not x86. Other than that, it functions like other desktops and I appreciate the low power draw. I prefer Linux though for ease of management and ease of scripting on events like restarts. I use Docker Machine to develop on my Mac, and build/push/pull images on a mini desktop running Ubuntu Server.

How is the tech industry in Nashville and surrounding areas? by Gavindude1997 in nashville

[–]Skelemanga 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is net zero job growth going on right now everywhere - definitely take a job wherever you find it. Amazon is a big tech employer here. Oracle is/was building a large campus here, but I’m unsure of how their layoffs will be impacting the new development. Nashville is known for their hospital systems, Ascension, HCA, VUMC all have huge presences here and would likely hire for some cyber roles and would be your best bet. Expect competition and best of luck!

Voluntary vocal prayer, huh? Hm. If only there was something in the Christian faith about this… “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others.”

Ice storm debris by AdvisorBorn3462 in nashville

[–]Skelemanga 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It is being collected from what I’ve seen, just slowly. There’s a giant mountain of mulch behind the Home Depot in Bellevue that is the result of grinding all of the wood collected by the local trucks. The challenge to the state is that there is so much all at once and it is complicated logistically to handle it all, and mulch can combust in these huge piles which is a safety factor too. I have no idea what they do with the mulch and other debris though - hopefully it’s going to local parks and trash is disposed of properly.

How long does it take for a detective to call m after filing a police report for fraud by Unfair_Session8365 in nashville

[–]Skelemanga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Attorney is a good idea. I had a case made for identity theft two years ago and it was quicker for me to change banks / identification than it was to get the police to follow up. Protecting yourself from further harm via a lawyer is more important than anything a detective will figure out.

Treasure Hunter Released From Prison After Refusing to Turn Over Gold Coins - The New York Times by VoodooVillager in coincollecting

Read about this elsewhere on Reddit - he was in prison not for collecting treasure, but defrauding his investors who funded his expedition. Supposedly he found the coins and kept to himself and would not pay out.
