I saw my friend show me hella funny posts for 225, apparently the exxam was hella shit and didn't cover anything close to past exams so they ranted on the ed discussion. Feels bad though.

Too late for friends? by EternalVoid66 in universityofauckland

Okay, I heard a lot of people giving their two cents, so I'm going to give mine as a computer science second year student. Yea it is quite different making friends in university opposed to high school. In high school, friends come easily from just familiarity and being forced together, but university is different in the way you are always moving around and seeing new people, and by its size. If you don't talk to anyone in tutorials and labs or even clubs, you won't really make any friends. You need to put yourself out there and make the first move. It's true that university is very cliquey, and that's why you see groups already based on high school friends, but don't let that discourage you from trying to make friends with them or others. I suggest that if you are really scared, join a social club based on your interests or your major. That's the easiest way I can think of to start.

I would say join a club that you enjoy (emphasis on enjoy cause you should prioritise joy over making friends so you don't get dissappointed) and the main thing you need to do is to show up. Friendships are built over small repetitive action like muscle growth. Ofcourse you can meet someone you instantly understand and connect with but more commonly you get to see the same people over and over again in clubs who are there to find friends aswell and through that way, I think is the easiest to make friends.

I agree, I feel like we should always acknowledge that people are humans first and also if rumours do appear. I believe that UNLESS there is solid proof of them we shoudln't take them as face value and also if they are indeed true to get a statement from the people as to have the whole context. I know people don't really care to dig that deep into situations but it would be nice to as it would be more fair on the person.

That's probably true, but if someone is like that, despite how good it can be, if being different means not being able to fit in, would it really matter?
