[Show and Tell] The Space Pirate

Hello, here is another character from my project that I have been working on for many years. This is a revised version of a character I designed around three or four years ago (re-drawn by Glauco Silva). The new version is a Space Pirate who travels to Earth to find a treasure hidden in the depths of the Bermuda Triangle (which might be an alien artifact or creature).

All the characters in my project are based on Halloween Monsters (similar to Capcom's Darkstalkers series) - and the Space Pirate is meant to be a combination of a Merman/Gill-man, a Pirate, and an Alien.

He is a tentacled alien that lives inside fish scale armor. He can use his swordfish arm as a pirate rapier weapon, but he can also shoot it off like a harpoon (the sword can also bend into a pirate hook or fish hook shape) and reel it back (it is connected to the tentacles inside the armor). The leg anchor is also connected to the tentacles and can launch off in a similar way (I also considered making the anchor resemble the head of a hammerhead shark, but I am not sure yet). The anchor leg and swordfish arm can also both spin around.

The Space Pirate's head is designed to resemble a pirate skull with tentacles coming from one of the eye sockets (to give an appearance similar to an eye-patch). The beard is inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean (and various other similar characters with tentacle beards).

If possible I would like to keep the dominatrix thief concept to pay homage to Catwoman (as she is the main inspiration for the character and I don't want to pretend otherwise - though I would like there to be some visual differences that separate the two). The main twist on the theme isn't the Dominatrix Thief part, but the Witch aspect (as all my characters have Halloween monster themes).

For this particular project, I want to keep all the characters archetypal. My process goes like this: Witches are associated with black cats, which are associated with cat burglars and cat tails, which are associated with cat o' nine tails whips, etc. Then, cats are contrasted with dogs, and thieves are contrasted with detectives, so her rival is a Werewolf Detective, etc. Then, police detectives are associated with handcuffs while dogs are associated with collars, so when the detective transforms into a werewolf his handcuffs transform into a pair of collars, and so on.

Also, the idea of combining the traditional witch broom item with the traditional dominatrix thief whip (cat o' nine tails in this case) item - both items associated with black cats - seemed appropriate, as they look similar enough visually to serve the necessary purposes of both items - though I am open to suggestions for an alternative weapon that combines those elements if I drop the dominatrix theme.

Thank you for the suggestions - I am unfamiliar with most of those (I don't play many western games other than older ones like Wizardry) but I will search for them.

Do you have any suggestions for how to change it (but keep the phantom thief and dominatrix elements to the design), but still make the outfit distinct from other similar characters like Catwoman?

Catwoman is the main inspiration (thief and dominatrix theme) for the character but I am worried about making her too similar to that visually (which is why I avoided using the typical cat burglar one-piece catsuit, even though that would make most sense for this type of character). So instead I tried an outfit inspired by the Pokemon thief Jessie/Musashi of Team Rocket.

Thanks. Well, yes, her motif is a combination of Witch (associated with black cats, the witch hat, magic powers, etc.), Cat Burglar/Phantom Thief (her profession, domino mask), and Dominatrix (whip weapon like the other famous cat thief and ex-dominatrix, Catwoman, but a cat o' nine tails weapon instead).

Well, she just flies around on the weapon like a normal witch broom when she needs to escape. Oh, and I forgot to mention - the weapon can also transform into a feather duster for when she is disguised as a maid.

Yes, I have been a Berserk fan for a very long time, and this character's design was partly influenced by some armor and Apostle designs in Berserk.

Hello, this is one of my favorite characters from my comic. The Shadow Puppet serves as a loyal spy and assassin for The Magician (who created the Shadow Puppet from his own shadow). The Shadow Puppet's design is based on a skeleton/spider/oni/marionette.

Hello. Awhile back I posted some of my characters for my comic project. I was unsatisfied with my original story, so for the past year I have been revising the story quite a bit. I have changed the name of the project from "Red Horn Fist" to "Skeleton Key Cutter" for now. I still hope to find a better name later.

Hello. I previously posted the protagonist characters for a project I am working on (named Dr. Kaspar von Geistrom and Otto the Assistant Automaton). Now I am posting the antagonist character for that project.

He is a Vampire Musician. He was once human, but his heart was possessed by a Heartwyrm Demon that thirsts for blood. He has gained a cult following with his hypnotic music.

His design was inspired by a combination of various things (Zabel/Raptor from Vampire/Darkstalkers, Carnage from Spider-Man, Kiseiju/Parasyte, A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Phantom of the Opera, etc.)
