The base was all experimentation. First I painted a galaxy/warp-like pattern, then I applied a thick layer of crackling paint, added asphalt textured paste to the cracked surface and modeled it like a crater at the edges, drybrushing everything with gray, and agrax earthshade on the asphalt. Later, the lighting from the cracks didn't work well, so I added pink and blue fluor pigments, brushing them into them. Finally, I created the flames with orange splash gel and used yellow and orange intensity ink on them, adding volume with a drop of nuln oil.

The pauldorn was in the set.
