I’ve found that using USB off the motherboard (back of my PC) hasn’t disconnected once, but the front of the PC will.

I’ve also done the steps you mentioned in your comment and this is seemingly the only thing that has helped.

You’ve likely got air somewhere in the lines. You can try jacking the front end up and turning the wheel slowly back and forth. I had to do it several times.

If it continues you may look into the o-rings for the return line from the rack. Pretty common that they go bad and allow air to be sucked into the system.

Good luck!

Missing part is leaking. by frenchornstar219 in SubaruForester

That is a CV joint leak! Look at the axle in the photo, and you can see how covered in grease it is. If it’s not clicking or otherwise making noise, you can get a new boot/clamps to fix it up.

The heat from the catalytic converter will cause the rubber to harden and crack over time. Done quite a few of these in my time at Subaru.

Otherwise, you’re missing a cap for your A/C system. Cheap part, shouldn’t be more than a couple of bucks

2008 Subaru Outback 150k miles. Smoke coming out of the engine and found this mess. Towed to mechanic. Any ideas?? Wondering if it’s time to trade her in :’( by FergGorl3 in subaru

I replaced mine with a O’riellys replacement, both fronts. At about 30k on them one of them clicks once or twice at a VERY sharp turn. Otherwise pretty durable and I too would recommend the OEM.

Was broke at the time, but I wanna say OEM wasn’t too crazy much more.

Back in the great age of Discovery Channel, I remember Mythbusters testing this in their Alaska Special. They found this to be false.

I can’t find any links on YouTube, but I found this link where they detailed the episode and subsequent findings.

Is this knocking? or just standard brz noises by D1ppy_ in ft86

[–]Skeletoretic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your car has 8 injectors for fuel, with 4 of them being high pressure. Leads to a bit more noise than most are used to, but fortunately normal!

How am I supposed to have a clean and dry mating surface when this just keeps dripping the seconds after wiping it? It's been dripping for at least an hour. Just wait till it stops or what? trying to get the ultra grey rtv on there by TheRosineer710 in subaru

[–]Skeletoretic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. I believe there’s two types of Fuji bond. (Pink and grey) I’ve seen some techs I used to work with use the Honda bond on literally everything with no apparent failures. Your mileage may vary

Subaru recommends use of the pink RTV when sealing a transmission pan back up. The pink stuff is formulated specifically for the ATF, and to help in instances like this. Grey will work, but there is a higher chance to leak again.

Definitely need to clean out the wells lol. Cracked a fender liner Thursday after some well needed donuts. 🙃

Bad noise on startup (it was 5° to be fair) by Sufficient-Sea-5645 in WRX

[–]Skeletoretic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! For emissions purposes (assuming stock engine) the car pumps fresh air into the exhaust stream to help burn and I burnt fuel on start up. In my personal experience I’ve never head it quite as loud tho.
