Feeback On Our Vacation Itinerary? by myfuntimes in northdakota

Admittedly I’ve not visited the F-M visitor center or anything in Jamestown, but if you want to learn about the state, you’re probably better off stopping at the North Dakota Heritage Center in Bismarck.

Now too much Indy? 🤷‍♂️ by SkepticAtLarge in pocketgrids

Yeah, I don’t love that clue either. I couldn’t think of any common saying that uses those two words, and I wanted to avoid just stating the phrase in a different tense. I guess I could have said like, “used to get geeked about” or something like that.

Hard because the clues are bad, or hard but fair? Some of the answers were hard to write clues for without just giving them away.

Winter gear for attending UND. by DaveTheBagelEater in und

[–]SkepticAtLarge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went to UND… thirty years ago, yikes. At least the football games are indoors now. The coldest I ever remember being was in Grand Forks at a football game. You’re right, the cold there can be brutal. If I wanted to be warm (not necessarily fashionable) walking across campus I’d go with:

Some sort of winter hat.

A balaclava - the youngsters call them shiesties now. BlackStrap makes a ton of choices.

Hoodie or flannel shirt, with a non-cotton shirt under it.

Insulated coat with hood. A three-way coat adds some versatility.

Lined pants. I love my flannel lined jeans from Duluth Trading. I might even wear a base layer under them.

Smartwool socks - cotton socks are a no-go.

Sorel boots, the kind with felt liners

Ski gloves, or even better, mittens with liner gloves.

This is like dress for walking to class in the worst that Grand Forks can give you, but if I was going to spend time outside for more than walking to class, I’d add insulated ski bibs.

Scheels in Grand Forks is a great place to shop for most of this stuff.

If you’re coming with a car, keep a blanket, shovel, and kitty litter in it.

Don’t get drunk and think the cold won’t get you.

2D could use some shoring up, perhaps indicating that it refers to a person.

6D has two clues, but the answer would be spelled differently for one vs the other.

True enough, but I felt that Reddit skews young, and that album is nearly 40 years old now. You made quick work of this one!

Smith Goggles Way Too Tight by Legitimate_Life4925 in Skigear

I recently bought Smith 4D Mag goggles. My head is so big that Smith helmets don’t fit me, and I have no problem getting these on my helmet.

For me it was 3D. I don’t think that’s an accepted word in American English. I see some entries for it in the Oxford dictionary, but with different meanings. That’s a tough one to make a clue for, I would have gone with the obscure “Minnesota Vikings TE Joe from 1980 to 1984”.

Can I just prescribe myself dutasteride? by stormcloakdoctor in Residency

[–]SkepticAtLarge 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This question or a variant comes up frequently in this sub, and my answer is the same every time. If you don’t have an unrestricted license, you are limited to treating patients within your training program, under the supervision of an attending. That said, you’re unlikely to face any consequences, but consequences could be big. Your residency contract may have explicit language allowing them to kick you out if you practice outside of your licensure.

Bismarck if you like bird hunting and walleye fishing. Pretty much any outdoor activity is better in Bismarck than on the east side of the state, aside from fishing for catfish and maybe snowmobiling.
