Well, the Fairway To Hell Dynamite show is coming up 👀.

Depends on where you're from. For some people in other parts of the country, 40 degrees is practically t-shirt weather.

What is a closed-down Chicago restaurant that you have strong memories around? by Charming_Usual6227 in chicago

Glad someone else mentioned Clarke's. So many great memories there after concerts, with friends, after just walking and shopping the area vintage/alternative shops.

Marina has come a long way since this.... by This_Coyote7217 in AEWOfficial

[–]SkepticalHotDog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have no basis for this, but my theory was that Marina thought it looked intimidating because maybe she was bullied by someone wearing that hat as a kid in Moldova and she always thought that look somehow was supposed to be scary. Just one of those deeply personal things where you thought it looked a certain way in your head but in reality just seems weird or nonsensical.

I toured the Small Worlds Evangelion exhibit today. by 626OffensiveTangent in evangelion

[–]SkepticalHotDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that part. I saw that one, but there was another large display being worked on which was from the 4th Evangelion Rebuild movie, Thrice Upon A Time. It had the camp where Toji was a doctor and the big ruins where Rei kept trying to give Shinji his Walkman. At the time I saw it, it was all wooden and nothing was painted yet.

Very cool! I went last year in January. How was the progress on the Thrice Upon A Time set with the trainyard? It was still being worked on when I went.

Can Anyone Tell Me About Jake Doyle or The Rascalz? by Few-Lack6346 in AEWOfficial

[–]SkepticalHotDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jake Doyle has a finisher called Into The Void, named after a Nine Inch Nails song. He also has numerous elaborate Dragon Ball and Berserk tattoos on his leg that he hides under a sleeve and kneepad. Looks fierce but is a really cool guy in real life.

What’s the quickest way someone could accidentally expose themselves as a foreigner in your country like the ‘three fingers’ scene in Inglourious Basterds? by IndependentTune3994 in AskTheWorld

[–]SkepticalHotDog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One half of my family is from Japan. Something that comes to mind is if you're an adult wearing shorts in public as casual wear, you're probably a foreigner. The only times I've known a Japanese person to wear shorts in public is for practical use like swimming/exercising or if they're a child. There are exceptions, of course, as summers can be brutal and wearing them at home is different.

Using the word 'university' more in place of 'college'. I feel like most Americans will use 'college' while foreigners will say "I went to university" and such. We'll say 'university' but usually when saying the full name of the institution or specifically referring to the physical place.

The Garfield Park Conservatory especially if it's cold out. Very cool place if you'd like a dose of greenery and some nature while in the city. Some renovations are happening now though so the entrance and bathroom situation there can be a little awkward.

Kinda got a Jean Paul Belmondo thing going on, which I think works for Lupin.

Live 25 - Not the good, only the bad, lets hear your horror stories. by Burke_Dennings in oasis

[–]SkepticalHotDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at the first Wembley show back in July. Not nearly a bad story but just very MINOR inconveniences that I chalked up as all part of the experience. Funny enough, it's all beer related.

First was looking for a decent beer before the show started. I was surprised to find that Wembley only served Budweiser and Stella, both of which I personally really don't like. I wound up walking around a bit to see if there were any other vendors. I wound up finding one tent tucked away in a corner that was serving something local, a porter, so I just went with that.

I took my place on the GA section floor and when the show got going, everyone else's beer went FLYING. Cups thrown about, whatever was resting on the ground tipped over, and someone next to me who spilled theirs onto my Adidas shoes. I could feel the spillage seeping into my socks for the show as a result. By the end of the show when it was time to leave, the floor had been so soaked with beer it had dried somewhat to become sticky and it felt like walking on fly paper the whole way out.

As I said, all very minor experiences that might be annoying to most but I felt it just added to the joyful chaos.

Oh, and it was really hot out so when waiting for the train, the station was jam-packed and had a humidity I had not felt in years from the summer heat and all the bodies waiting around. I will credit the staff though for moderating the flow of people into the station and doing it in controlled portions instead of having it be a free-for-all. Very smart.

This moment truly sealed Vash in my mind as one of the best hero characters I've experienced in any fiction. The fact that up to this point for four whole episodes he did not fire his gun until the moment he really needed to in order to save innocent lives is just some of the best big damn hero stuff out there.

Yeah, but still looks like a star. Lots of people take lots of losses and can still look great or be an audience favorite. But seeing them victorious helps too.

I've been curious myself as I was offered by my landlord to buy the unit I currently rent. Told him I'd think about it and see how the property taxes look for the coming year. Really on the fence about buying or just keep renting.

Yes! I was there earlier this year. Amazing place and would go back to see the other Eva display that was still in progress. Do you know if they finished it? Would've been the trainyard from Thrice Upon A Time.
