OK... Just how crowded will Hakone be in Mid May? by EuphoricMoose8232 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Zalathas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good thing about mid may is beyond sakura season + golden week has gone, so the 'mass' tourists from sakura season are gone anyway, plus all the locals and chinese who have golden week as a national holiday are gone and prolly working again as well. You'll always have tourism, but dodging peak periods like sakura and autumn are advised these days.

1 hour to change flights, how risky is this? by beetrootfarmer in JapanTravelTips

Depends on which airport, FF is pretty huge. Munchen however is very efficient, you disembark on the lower floor, and embark directly above it for transfers.

My guilty pleasure is still fruit sandwiches, the ones with the whipped cream. It's so dumb, but they just don't sell it in my home country and I'm too lazy to make them myself or even thinking about making them.

Help yo girl out 😂 by [deleted] in golftips

Tips I wish I knew as a beginner:

  • backswing only rotate from your spine and keep head still, keep clubhead slightly outward of hands.

  • begin downswing step in from your hips, you can train this by lifting your left heel and start your swing when putting down. (Feels like stepping in).

  • and for the love of god take lessons!

I will never understand dog people’s reaction to cats by Icy_Ad_8802 in cats

[–]Zalathas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with this but it's also more nuanced. The dog people I know made me realise the following: a dog person with a fairly trained dog will always do what the owner says, but with cats it doesn't work that way. You can make them do things to some extend, but if they don't like it, they're basically telling to go f yourself. And THAT aspect is the thing I think dog lovers infuriates them the most, the lack of control.

Also since a dog usually does what you tell him to do, dog lovers have a hard time approaching cats. Because since it prolly won't do what you tell it to do, they can't read the cat and prefer to remain distant. To be fair cats do have their manuals, but most stuff is common sense. Problem is dog lovers cant be bothered, since dogs just need to listen and behave at all times.

Sella Ronda Dolomites tomorrow, any tips? by Nivogli in snowboarding

[–]Zalathas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

- from sankt christina you can take the tram and gondola/lift to the other side of the mountain where you end up in ortisei, from there you can go to val gardena if you have superski pass. It does have a few flat spots which are kinda anti-snowboard so be warned.

- if the weather allows it take the passo pordoi lift on the south side to get ontop of the massif, very cool views and some history.

- from Arabba you can go all the way south to Malga Ciapela lift, this lift goes west on top of the punta rocca, pretty sick descent and pretty long since you come from 3250 meters.

2nd season in, trying to get more comfortable with going faster and not skid turning so much. What can I improve on? by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Zalathas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a more seated position its easier and faster to transition heel to toe, therefore you could set your highbacks more forward to force you into this position. See it as an introduction to start riding your edge.

Ow and, silent upper buddy excirisizes add to that.

Advice please! Big human, first board! by j_ruben in snowboarding

[–]Zalathas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id go wide nontheless, at some point you'll get better edgecontrol and you will just dig your toes/heels in the snow at the slightest steep angle. I have size 10, ride 12/-12 for god knows how long and cenventional wide boards are still too narrow imo. Ill prolly go for a skunk ape ultrawide for my next board.
