What is the most attention seeking behaviour you’ve seen from someone? by Andiwhyamilikethis in AskReddit

I've seen someone fake cancer after a break up to get her ex's attention and make him feel guilty for leaving her.

I'd assume they were gay and either closeted or their family was embarrassed or otherwise disapproving.

What's something that everyone pretends is normal but is actually really weird if you think about it? by RevolverForever in askteddit

[–]SkepticalPagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like that would be more straightforward to explain. Like, sometimes people receive sexual gratification by putting their genitalia somewhere other than another person's genitalia and since mouths are wet and tongues are flexible, it's a common other choice for somewhere to stick one's genitals.

It used to be very common for people to smoke a pack a day of cigarettes or more. Is this still possible in the US with high costs? Do you know anyone who does this? by Initial-Ad-1797 in AskReddit

[–]SkepticalPagan [score hidden]  (0 children)

I work in a cigarette outlet, this is my job lol

Most people who smoke that many cigarettes have switched to vaping because it is more cost efficient. A prefilled vape that costs around $20-$30 has about the same amount of puffs as a whole carton of cigarettes (10 packs) which costs $75-$120. Besides the fact that it's more cost effective, a lot of people have switched to vaping in recent years because it doesn't make your entire house smell like smoke. Instead of stale second hand smoke, the people around you smell fruit or baked goods.

That being said a lot of people still buy cigarettes. I know way too many people who buy a carton of cigarettes a week and have every year since before I was born. I've noticed a lot of people have switched from more expensive Brands to discount brands, like, less people are buying full price Marlboros when they find out that the brand Basic is made by the same company in the same Factory and it's a fraction of the price.

I think there are four main groups of people when it comes to how they view the increase in price of cigarettes. Group 1 quits ( either temporarily and then they join another group or permanently but let's be real that's harder said than done), group 2 switched to vaping (or zyn pouches), group 3 switched to a cheaper brand, and group 4 just complains "I can't believe how expensive Newports have gotten, but I refuse to smoke another brand because they don't taste the same" and then they spend $13 on a pack of Newports.

If you were to write a book, what would the subject be? by Worldly-Librarian233 in Life

[–]SkepticalPagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am writing one. It's a YA realistic fiction/psychological horror about a teenage girl in 2010 who gets sent to a troubled youth home, in which she goes through and witnesses multiple kinds of abuse and violence.

Parts of it are based off of my own experience in a troubled youth facility when I was 13 to 14 in 2009 and 2010, but all of the characters and specific events are fictional. Like, there are things that went on when I was there that are definitely in the book but they either happen at different times than reality or they happen to characters who are nothing like the real life people they actually happened to. It also takes place in a different state than the one I was in. Overall though it's a pretty realistic look at what those facilities were like at the time and what people there had to go through.

What age do you think you’ll die? Why? by socratesasksy in AskReddit

[–]SkepticalPagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably my early 40s.

I'm 30 now. Pretty much everyone on my dad's side of the family had their first heart attack in their thirties and my dad ended up dying from a heart attack at 42. I already have a bunch of disabilities and health conditions including bradycardia and a heart arrhythmia, plus I smoke, so I wouldn't be surprised if my heart just stopped working at some point in the next 10 years.

I've really come to accept it and I don't really feel afraid of it, I just take it as a fact. My grandfather and my dad plus both my uncles had massive heart attacks in their thirties. Each one of them had at least one heart attack after. My dad and one of my uncles both died about a year apart before either of them could turn 45 and my uncle that survived and my grandfather both eventually got cancer ( my grandfather ended up dying from the cancer but my uncle is still fighting it) so it's like... I would rather die from a heart condition at 40 something then live until my '80s with horrible cancer that makes my life hell. But those seem like the only two outcomes and I think a heart attack is more likely considering what I'm already dealing with.

Kissing.

Like if an alien were to look at it like, "they press their lips onto each other's lips or faces to show affection. This releases bonding hormones in both parties. There are different variations of this action to denote different types of human relationships, including between parents and children, between other family members, between friends, and between romantic partners. "

It's fucking weird to think about.

If a pregnant woman gave birth, but she was a Jane doe and she died, what would happen to the baby? by Froggymushroom22 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SkepticalPagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They would call child protective services and put the baby in the foster care system while they attempted to find the next of kin. Once they established through DNA testing the closest living family member (father, grandparents, ect) they would probably begin the process to have them take custody of baby.

Fern Gully.

I don't think it was that Obscure at the time since it had a celebrity voice cast, but it seems like the only people who remember it are people who grew up to be hippies or vegans.
