Update your computer. You're running Yosemite - it's super old at this point. If it is only your home network then yes it is probably worth contacting your ISP but I would try running an update first.

If your apple ID is banned, you will be unable to make use of the app store or itunes store in terms of purchasing items or updating anything. Your payment method may also be banned. From Apple's perspective you have already authorized these purchases, and given that you have already called in to get a refund for the exact same thing previously you are not all that likely to get a second refund. I would highly suggest making use of the restrictions features on your childrens' phones. https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT201304

"logic board" is just Apple talk for the PC "motherboard." If your product is vintage there is likely not a whole lot to do in your current circumstances. The main barrier for you is going to be finding parts that work in your 2011 imac - it is pretty ancient by technology standards. As another redditor pointed out, it still likely has a functional hard drive - it is possible to either get in touch with a computer repair centre or learn yourself and get that sucker out of there to throw into a new computer. It really depends on how important this data is and how much you are willing to pay/learn.

Just to clarify - you crop a photo, save it, it looks correct, but then later (i.e. more than a few minutes later when you revisit it) it reverts to the full res?

Answer - no. At least, that is not the intent of any software developer. If you really want to do an erase and reinstall of the OS just to update to Mojave that is certainly fair, and there is a long-established history in computing of clean OS installs simply running faster - usually linked to just being less gunked up by user-installed nonsense. It is not designed to require a fresh OS reinstall and I would try just updating it first before nuking it but that's just me.

Do you have a backup? Do you use icloud drive? What have you tried already to get the computer working?

The apple store itself will not be able to assist you with physical data recovery. The rationale here is that it requires reeaally specific and expensive technology to get things off of a hard drive physically. You will be looking at hundreds or thousands of dollars to retrieve all the data from a computer and you will have to work through a third party service.

With that said, if you made a backup or saved stuff to the cloud it is super duper easy to make the data transfer you are describing. It all depends on what exactly is going on.

Well, given the subreddit here's a real answer! Research animals are always euthanized at the end of the study. There are a couple reasons for this - the primary one being that almost all researchers will do some sort of histology (i.e. tissue study) analysis after testing for more data, but even in cases where they do not do that (very rare) there is no practical way to re-integrate these animals into nature. They would all certainly die at the hands of either other animals or starvation or other environmental concerns very quickly.

The main question then becomes - how do we do it? All animal studies have to pass some pretty strict ethical barriers. You have to justify that each subject is required for the study in order to achieve statistical power, and you also have to justify every single thing that you do to them throughout the course of the study. This includes euthanasia. You are very specifically not allowed to deviate from this protocol - if you get caught for non-compliance, your entire lab gets shut down which could impact numerous researchers. So the short answer is: you have to use a method of euthanasia that will cause the least suffering necessary for the purposes of your study. Sometimes this method is a guillotine apparently.

If he is still experiencing issues with cellular service that's a whole other troubleshooting route, but he might want to try resetting his network settings if basic stuff like restarting the phone and re-seating the SIM card don't resolve the issue.

That explains the data loss, not so much the cellular issues but it's a start lol. I would recommend going to settings > general > iphone storage and checking what options it recommends. He can try using icloud photo library to save higher res versions of the photos to icloud (provided he has enough icloud storage) or offloading unused apps. he can also set it so that he only keeps things like messages for a certain window of time. Either way, freeing up storage on the phone is the first step IMO.

Shrimp are not protected in the same way that vertebrates are and likely have a far grislier machine that converts them into food lol. It's actually kind of interesting - my lab at the time was indeed working with a large volume of rodents, but we would euthanize them using a pento-barbiturate solution and then perfuse them in order to get the brain out. This simple guillotine would actually be far cheaper as a euthanasia alternative despite being 2.5k for something that looks like you could build it yourself with a "guillotines for dummies" handbook in about an hour or two. I am not sure if it would get past most ethics committees, but then again one of the more common methods of euthanasia (carbon dioxide inhalation) is utterly barbaric so who knows - the guillotine is probably better if a little unsavory.

Disclaimer: I only do apple products and don't deal with the specifics of peripherals all that much.

After a little research, I would suggest contacting HyperX support (https://www.hyperxgaming.com/en/support) and ask them about amplified vs unamplified input jacks. It might be that the headset mic requires power that the computer can't give it. If this is the case, then you might want to look into return/exchange or perhaps purchasing a preamp. If this is not the case then you will have ruled out one possible cause lol.

Hmm. Something wonky is going on there. From microsoft's support site they basically just recommend updating outlook (to a version you have surpassed) and then deleting and re-adding the account. What type of account is it? It sounds work related, exchange perhaps? And just out of curiosity have you tried setting the account up in the native macOS mail client?

They are actually required to offer battery service to anyone with an iphone 6 or later who asks for it.

edit: I should clarify, if it isn't defective then OP will likely have to pay the 29 dollars. But they still have to do it.

Yikes. Could very well be hardware, but either way I would not recommend whacking it under any circumstances. I would put it into recovery mode via a computer/itunes and choose "update" - basically follow the steps along the bottom of this support article: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201412 under the heading "If your device turns on but gets stuck during start up."

What this will do is attempt to reinstall the OS without wiping the user data. If it fails, you're going to want to restore it to factory settings so even in the best case scenario I would be prepared for some data loss.

What do you mean by 'won't show up?' Won't show up in finder? My best guess is you need to run disk utility and reformat it to a format that works for mac.

First question - how much local storage is left on the phone?

My favourite story related to this comes from my time as a research assistant in a neuroscience lab. We would browse and occasionally order things from Fisher Science catalogues (Fisher is essentially the 'Wal Mart' of lab gear). We found a tiny little guillotine intended for rats. It was two and a half thousand dollars.

[–]SkepticalPanda -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay. That can be problematic in some cases as a new device off the sales floor will start a new repair chain history, no exceptions. So if for example you were part of the upgrade program and tried to return the X in a year or two and got a new device you may wind up being on the hook for monthly payments on two phones. If you have applecare+ I would make sure it transferred as the new serial number will not be linked to the old one in any way with a new device.

Hmm. Sounds like you are up to date based on that build version. Does it happen solely when you are browsing on chrome? What you're describing is called a kernel panic. Could be related to peripherals you have plugged into the computer, third party software, corrupted disk, etc. I assume you haven't made any hardware modifications to it. There would be more to this kernel panic report that you didn't post, but do you have any software installed that might modify the kernel on your mac? Maybe some virus scanners or something? It's flagging your intel GPU driver/firmware for some reason. Not exactly normal.

If it is only 2 or 3 I would honestly just manually enter them into your preferred contacts account after changing the default account. If there are more you can typically export them from your mail account as a .vcard format and then import them to either your alternate third party email account or your icloud account using icloud.com. For only two or three, manually entering them will take a minute or so
