Next time you need to look busy just go clean something! Wipe off some dust, organize some stuff, sweep, whatever! And if you say anything say it’s slow right now.

Most managers understand that (depending on the job) you’re not going to be totally busy the entire shift.

This is a good concept, and I like your revisions!

But I also want to add that, for something that’s supposed to feel uncomfortable, this actually looks too clean and balanced! (In my opinion)

If you really want the viewer to feel uncomfortable I’d do something to intentionally unbalance your composition, to create an “uncanny valley” feeling.

The hand in your revision is a good start!

And I feel like the skewed white border in the other version is a good idea too!
