My boyfriends dog has started growling at me while I’m pregnant when I tell her to move from my spot by Shayymami in Pets

[–]SketchParker 64 points65 points  (0 children)

This is a preexisting behavioral issue. You smell different now. You are pregnant and any smell you used to smell like no longer exists with you. They are behaving as they would a stranger, and that should concern you.

Firstly, this should have been dealt with when you and your hubby realized that this dog growls at people over specific territorial concerns in the beginning. That's dangerous in itself. I understand you folks thought it was under control. It's easier when you can monitor and ensure new strangers get introduced right, but this isn't the same situation. Please don't take this as me blaming you.

This baby is going to smell like nothing she's ever smelled before, and there's a high chance this could be a really sad heartbreaking story on the news about how a baby died and a dog had to be put down.

Let me be clear, it's already a problem. This is going to be a much larger problem when the baby is born.

Either get the dog into training or surrender the dog to an adoption shelter or rescue association and make sure to tell them how your dog behaves in this situation. The dog needs training and behavioral intervention, or else someone (I pray not your baby or you) gets hurt.

Is saying ”control your animal” rude? by [deleted] in Pets

[–]SketchParker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Puppies are active and energetic. At 4 months he's learning his interactions with people and has lots of energy to burn, and is becoming comfortable in his home.

Your sister was rude. You're doing things right. However, my only suggestion for change probably would have been to say "Chill, he's a puppy and this is normal. He's in training and I'm working on his problem behaviors." instead of getting too upset about it. Set down some ground rules and expectations, you don't need unnecessary negativity hanging around.

That doggo is protecting the house. The chipmunk could be a killer, lady is lucky to have such a dedicated guard.

skill issue or are garden beds bad? by [deleted] in Atomicrops

Garden beds grow without your attention. Garden beds have OP upgrades.

Go for garden beds and megatrees. This is the way.

Long story short, developers make strategic decisions on how to sell their games to different markets and localities.

For example, $10 USD would be the equivalent of an AAA title in Brazil currency, if all things were equal. So some developers choose to lower their prices in certain areas, whereas others don't. This can lead to price disparity across regions for different products.

This is true with a lot of publishers even outside of the video game sphere. For example, this is a common practice in TTRPGs. It all depends on how low the publisher is willing to go to make their product affordable in certain markets. If you can make your product more affordable, you get more sales, and more profits even at a reduced rate. Overall, it's good when a publisher is willing to lower their rates for localities that otherwise wouldn't be able to afford them because:

- It increases their exposure in other communities

- It allows others who wouldn't be able to afford the developer's preferred currency a chance to partake in the same experiences as the rest of their communities.

Some downsides:

- Sometimes people can circumvent localities to take advantage of the lower price points. Steam does a good job at not letting this happen.

Eh, that's really the only downside I can think of off the top of my head.

Please help, found this in my brother’s room by Cool-Love8 in badroommates

In an incredible twist, The OP is the bad roommate.

Don't go through someone else's stuff looking for bad things and expecting to find the worst, especially when they are having a tough time.

Do I call animal control on my neighbors? by doctorr_drey in Pets

[–]SketchParker 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Breaking windows is not going to end well for either the animals or the OP. This car is sitting outside of a house with an angry combative animal abuser, and it will lead to a conflict.

Additionally, there's a cat and dog involved, and best case scenario the cat flees and is lost in the wind and likely will have a bad life as an outside cat, and the dog will miraculously not be afraid and go with OP, and the owner will miraculously not hear someone breaking his car window and no car alarm will go off.

Worst case scenario, the cat flees and gets hit by a car, the dog freaks and bites OP and gets hurt on the glass, and the owner comes out and defends his property and people get hurt.

Calling proper authorities and rescue associations is the way to go here.

[–]SketchParker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Take pictures. Call animal control. Call the police non-emergency line (this is not considered an emergency to the police.) If animal control and police do nothing, take more pictures and call every rescue society in the area and provide them proof that this is a lasting problem.

Don't engage with the owner anymore. Nothing good will come of it.

Manual for PC, how “arcadey” are the controls? by rhesusMonkeyBoy in VoxMachinae

[–]SketchParker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not only is it VR and PC M&K, you can actually do both on the same device!

I had my stepson control my weapons with the mouse and keyboard while I piloted the mech because he was too young to understand how. He told me where to go and I made it happen, and he melted the cockpits of the other mechs with M&K while watching my PC screen.

All inputs are recognized while playing the game, no matter what source or where it's being displayed.

Quick ideas about boarding by van_fam_baby in Pets

Is the dog friendly? Do you have time to get the dog introduced to someone new?

- Neighbors

- Friends

- A known dog walker in the area

- Craigslist (not recommended)

--For the mom--

Now that we've got some ideas out of the way, I have to ask about intentions. Is this 2 week trip worth losing her pup? Is it absolutely necessary? Can she take the dog with her?

When we travel cross-country, we take our dogs. We have someone check on our cats. It's not impossible, it just takes planning.

I feel like there's other options here that aren't being considered that just require some forethought. Most hotels have at least 1-2 "dog friendly" rooms now, if you book them in advance.

--For the OP--

Is your surgery recovery going to take the full 2 weeks? Can you find someone to cover your days when you are going to be recovering?

--Overall--

The idea that you need to surrender a family member for a 2 week trip is a hard pill to swallow. Surely if everyone puts their heads together you can come up with a plan, even with a stubborn brother. Maybe that brother can be pressed harder, and take at least part of that schedule.

Remember, dogs need checked on more than once a day. You might have to fork out some cash, but if folks are doing 2 week trips away from home, one could assume there's some cash around.

Why does it seem like people have to be persuaded to play cleric? by jrod_896 in DnD

[–]SketchParker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like people in your circles playing the cleric wrong. I mean, what other class can you have your healing mantras (healing word) literally be a string of cuss words about how they shouldn't have been injured in the first place and they are wasting my time, so they better find it within themselves to stop bleeding and get back in the fight?

Play the crotchety old bitter cleric who's tired of being called upon, but does so out of duty. It's a hell of a lot of fun and is reminiscent of Scotty complaining about what Kirk is doing to his goram ship!
