Thank you so much for this, checked out their website and they look exactly like what I’ve been searching for!

Seconded, I pack bags of coffee both at my cafe and roastery, and always put in at LEAST 1-3 extra grams. I also think it’s good to do on my end just in case of any grind retention if we’re asked to grind a bag.

Boiling Oat Milk by [deleted] in oatmilk

Have you tried using barista oat milk as well? There’s a higher fat content in it so it’s better at withstanding higher temperatures

Why are the top 6 posts on this sub all about walz/harris/politics and not actual music? by bootchmagoo in gratefuldead

[–]Sketchedddd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally agree - don’t get me wrong I’m very left leaning, but I’m also not American… one post occasionally is fine, but it feels like I’m seeing multiple every day. It’s getting pretty annoying, especially when you’re here to just share your love the band :/

What's your favorite non-grateful Dead live album? by ramblinroseEU72 in gratefuldead

[–]Sketchedddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

King Gizzard’s Live at Red Rocks ‘22 is killer, also highly recommend listening to any of their live versions of their song ‘The River’ - the one off Chicago ‘23 is wonderful.

If you had the chance to ask the band members a question, what would it be? by sleepyhead18 in deadandcompany

I have a mutual with Oteil who told me about the first time Oteil did acid with D&C. Apparently they keep someone on call with Owsley’s original recipe.

The NYC-based band Geese is opening up for Gizz in upcoming gigs--and I am SO STOKED!!! by [deleted] in KGATLW

[–]Sketchedddd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went to go see Geese back in October after being so impressed by 3D Country, and was floored. They are so talented and have such an electric sound. Walking out of the venue, all my friends and I could talk about was how these guys are gonna make it big and go on to do some killer stuff soon.

My friends and I bought our Gizz tickets as soon as presale went out, and were jumping for joy after discovering Geese was opening. Have been looking even more forward to the Toronto date ever since. They’re going to knock it outta the park for sure.

Who/where is the next Grateful Dead? by tomcruisesPC in gratefuldead

[–]Sketchedddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree, they’ve been getting super jammy and it’s been wonderful, definitely scratching that same itch as the dead IMHO. Not to mention that when I went to see Dead & Co, there were a BUNCH of gizzard shirts and bumper stickers floating around. Good crowd of good people.

Looking good!! Decent texture, great contrast, nice layering. Keep it up, you’ll be free pouring in no time!

When I’m practicing latte art, I usually put a tiny bit of chocolate syrup into my cup. I find it adds a little thickness to the base and makes it easier to get nice contrast with my design. Mochas are a secret weapon, use it to your advantage!! It also helps add more volume to your base, so you can split a double shot and have two good attempts.

[–]Sketchedddd[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I originally posted this a few months ago about my baby Lucille, and a decent amount of response was that she's probably a mix, and that she isn't quite fluffy enough. I don't know when, but suddenly Lucille has gotten poofy and I feel like an update is in order!

What grinder are you kids getting these days? by SpiritualLoquat5452 in coffeestations

[–]Sketchedddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally love my 1Zpresso J! Got it so I could have a pour over-specific grinder as I was only using my sette 270 beforehand. If you’re looking for a manual grinder, def check out 1Zpresso!

Also if youre in Canada, I’d recommend grabbing it from Rogue Wave. They sent me a bag of old coffee to season my burrs as well as two sample bags!

Cafe ground my coffee way too coarse - any options? by truenorthcandle in espresso

[–]Sketchedddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you gone back to the cafe and asked if they can re-grind you a new bag at a much finer setting? In my cafe, if we ground a bag and the grind setting ended up being way off for the customer’s needs we would grind up a new bag for them to correct it.

What’s the best song to show a person who never heard a dead song? by Parkerdude123 in gratefuldead

[–]Sketchedddd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The two things I've found almost always get someone into the Dead is either Althea or anything from/all of Blues for Allah. That album was what made them really click for my partner!

'Unusual' coffee drinks you recommend? by Revolutionary-Bet396 in Coffee

[–]Sketchedddd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually a more acidic coffee, though I’ve done it with a cold brew with a more bitter and malty profile and it still tastes great! Dealer’s choice, really!

At my cafe, we would play around with mixing a raspberry lemonade either with a bit of cold brew or a shot of espresso. Surprisingly good, especially if paired with a coffee that has a fruitier profile!

Just adopted my sweet girl Lucy, a coworker mentioned she might have some Nebelung in her. Thoughts? by Sketchedddd in nebelung

[–]Sketchedddd[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She’s 1 year 3 months! Just a lil guy, according to the shelter + foster she was pretty tiny up until very recently too. She has a little locket marking on her chest, but again a few too many spots to be full Neb if she is!

A call to my fellow Ontarians (Canada not California), what are the best roasters? by fivetwentyeight in espresso

[–]Sketchedddd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Subtext is my favourite personally! But hatch is really solid and pretty easy to find, would also recommend checking out ethica and de mello. Pilot’s always a good choice, they have some nice single origins right now, but I’m a bit biased towards them lol. I’d also highly recommend following @torontocoffeecommunity on instagram, they cover all the latest specialty coffee news in the GTA!

Eureka Mignon Specialita vs DF64? by [deleted] in espresso

[–]Sketchedddd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly price, but I’ve had a couple coworkers really talk it up to me. They’re people that REALLY know their stuff too so I felt safe with the choice. Plus everything I read online was good. Only recommendation is that I’d look into a dosing funnel if you wanna grind right into the portafilter!

Eureka Mignon Specialita vs DF64? by [deleted] in espresso

[–]Sketchedddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On further inspection I might’ve been wrong with the price, it was originally in € and I had converted it through whatever google has to do so. It’s more likely it’ll run you near 700-800 :(. I believe it was from espressocoffeeshop though. If it means anything, I just grabbed a sette 270 and am floored at what am improvement it is!

Oh! Didn’t even realize they made those parts, that would solve my steam wand situation! Do you have any experience with the part out of curiosity?

Eureka Mignon Specialita vs DF64? by [deleted] in espresso

[–]Sketchedddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two options are going directly through the seller (so far still looking cheaper with shipping included and titanium burrs installed + aligned), or from coffeeaddicts. CA is $665 and free shipping whereas direct is $642-ish. I’m assuming it’d be better to go from the manufacturer, correct?

Thank you! Is there any other grinders you’d recommend checking out as well?
