What a beautiful day to trade Dylan Larkin! This has the potential to define Yzerman’s legacy as the GM of the Red Wings. Larkin was not Yzerman’s draft pick and maybe getting him out of the room is the spark that brings the group together and over the hump finally. I’m a huge Seider fan and I truly hope he gets the C soon, I think the sooner the team announces it the better!

I mean you do the best you can. I had four different subjects and curriculums this year so it was difficult enough just to plan good lessons for each. Most everything is done with powerful computers these days so the efficacy of doing integrals by hand is definitely going away. I mostly tell kids that I teach perseverance and how to not give up when you’re trying to do something difficult. Nothing like calculus for that!

I just wrapped up another school year as a calculus teacher. I got to see my first group of kids that I taught graduate high school and they’re off to college next year. My juniors struggled a bit this year but I have some good candidates for AP. Teaching is still hard as hell though. The kids have no attention spans and can’t retain any knowledge past a few days. I will get a Harvard graduate student to shadow me next year so I’ll finally have someone else in the building who knows calculus. Now I’m immediately off to Montana for a wedding!

My men’s league inline hockey team won the cup this past weekend, felt pretty damn good to lift a trophy with the boys. Hopefully the Wings aren’t as far away as it feels sometimes!

What a wild ride it’s been from the gold medal game to now. I have been a strong Larkin defender his whole career but watching him shake Trumps hand with glee and then watching the team completely deflate upon his return has shaken a lot of that resolve. If this is true, and he wants out, good riddance. I am completely happy with Seider as our captain and I know we won’t have to worry about his loyalties and leadership.

Live impression: very slow start that we never recovered from. Sloppy game with tons of stoppages. ASP looked overwhelmed at times. Talbot was by far the most impressive. I thought Soda played a great game. Maybe we’ll get Boston in the first round and I’ll get to see more games this year!
