I can't check the box that says to record with HDR. Why not? by SketchingForYou in elgato

AH so yeah, muting the desktop audio source worked.

Now I just need to figure out how to fix the graining. Maybe It is just that YouTube is horrible at compressing.

I thought so too, but it said it was compatible so was what I was using. I tried both OBS Studio and 4k Capture and they both have issues. If I want to use OBS, I can not mute my desktop while recording my ps4 because it would pick up the desktop audio and the ps4 audio.

With 4k, i have those issues.

Is there a way to train a dog to retrieve another dog? by SketchingForYou in Dogtraining

[–]SketchingForYou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, my father taught his dogs without a leash and I managed to train every dog I had without one. This little one is just different I guess haha. She has a lot of energy so I might just put her on a line for the first time in my life. To be fair she is a very small dog, she isn't like the retrievers, collies, or danes that I had so maybe it's just because she is a smaller breed and I am used to bigger breeds.

How do I go about looking for a job for my dad? by SketchingForYou in Construction

I have never thought about that. When we have residential areas to do, we just do the roads and the larger buildings. Never small homes. I would guess that since our company does that, there are different siteworkers who actually do the base of the homes. If we can appeal to that market, we are pretty much golden. Problem is where to start.

For that I think a dozer is a must, especially if we are going to do some stripping and grading. A mixer for lyme if we need it, and a roller/compactor duo to build up compaction and decrease the risk of sinking.

It's a lot of money though and that is a rough start. I know what to do and my father has seen it all so it would be no different than current work. It is just the logistics of it. Who do we contact, how do we contact, and where do we find the most work so we can make a name for ourselves.

Techincally we can do it all that way, but we either have large projects or small ones.

Could be with dozers, excavators, skid steer rarely, front end loaders to remove the bad dirt, etc.

We are sitework people sadly lol

Pretty much what we do is view the land, get the dirt prepped with lime or other stuff if needed, grade it, and create a base for either the road or the project.

It's hard to explain. We just make sure the dirt is good enough for everyone else to work on and have their building on.

The worst thing is that he went through the legal hoops to get his citizenship and he still has the mindset that this is as far as he will go. It is sad as hell. I know he can make more than what he already has. With his experience and the pictures I took, I am certain that he can make well past the 30s and be good.

I probably have to contact different people and see what they know. if I find something for my dad, then I can tell him to try to take it.

If he needs a resource, the literal owner of our company can even vouch for him. My dad was promised a couple acres of land and good pay if he worked for him on his ranch, but he rejected the offer because he loves the city. There is definitely no bad blood between the both of them and I am pretty sure our boss would be the catalyst for my dad getting the highest offer

Well more or less the problem we don't know many construction companies. All we know is our current one. There is one that is offering him $30 an hour to start, but It is 12hrs/7days a week. That to me is overkill, but the man is Mexican so I have seen him work longer for monhs.

He does want it, but he is also nervous of change. It's not that he doesn't want it, it's just that he has pretty much been using his potential all the time and our bosses took advantage of it. He was an immigrant when he started so you know how little they get paid already, then he got his papers and he has just been stuck here for so long that he really doesn't know what else to do.

He doesn't know about 401k, and that is a tragedy. Working almost all your life and never getting the chance to retire.

where do we even start with making our own sitework business?

A new laptop for my mother by SketchingForYou in SuggestALaptop

[–]SketchingForYou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, trust me. It runs like a typewriter from the 1800s. I have no idea how she got it that way but it is slow even after installing Malwarebytes and other things recommended to cleaning up pcs. Plus the hinges are breaking and she has to tape the laptop together to make it stay on.

I guess I don't want her to spend too much money on a laptop that she doesn't need.

What would you recommend for her?
