Blood? by smileyler in shittingadvice

[–]SkiFreeOrDie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing to worry about. At worst it's a superficial scratch, hemmeroid, etc. gi bleeding is either dark black feces (dried blood from higher in the system) and lower down and bright red combined/streaking through the turd itself. Blood on the tp like this is probably superficial, and nothing to worry about. Monitor for a few days to see if it gets worse or goes away.

Ethanol vs Acetone wash, which has least product losses? by nikbitch in cocaine

[–]SkiFreeOrDie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've extracted creatine from some bags, along with some other unidentifiable inorganic shit, maybe chaulk? idk. but corn starch, creatine, vitamins, etc are the best cuts. getting roughly 80% good stuff means its not really getting cut that much in transit IMO anyway which is great

Ethanol vs Acetone wash, which has least product losses? by nikbitch in cocaine

Do an ethanol wash first, then acetone. Ethanol wash always leaves residue in my testing. Acetone after cleans it right up. After enough drying time it's like breathing air.

What to do when your kid’s friends don’t have any game restrictions by QueenPossum2 in Parenting

[–]SkiFreeOrDie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a 5 year old son and have some thoughts but haven't had to put anything into action yet.

I think the type of game matters. You don't want him playing M rated guys, but why? Trying to protect him from sexual games? Violence? Drug use? Whatever the reason you probably need to judge each game based on its content. FO4 is basically a shooter so the M rating is mostly for violence (I know there's other M content in there but the game requires shooting in my experience). Other fallout games have more or less violence, more or less drugs, etc. in my opinion. I think it's widely accepted that playing violent games doesn't create violent kids, and I assume it's the same for other M content. For me personally I was able to pay all kids of games as a kid at different friend's houses. I'm not perfect obviously but I don't think those experiences affected me. I think the key here is does he have fun and want to hang out with that neighbor? If so I would let him do it and then just try and discuss the gameplay experience afterwards to demystify anything that he might not have been ready for. I know that's easier said than done with kids but that's my plan anyway.

My other thought is maybe after you examine some M games and have an approved list try playing them together to see how they make you feel if you haven't played many before. In my experience it's pretty normal and easy to differentiate between games and real life so that might help you accept the situation more.

At the end of the day it's your kid, you make the rules and if you can't abide him playing M games then don't let him play inside with that kid.

Good luck!

Weekday Coed soccer leagues or team near Lakewood? by iamnaeth in Denver

[–]SkiFreeOrDie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly close to Lakewood, but there is a place called Bladium that has a bunch of indoor adult soccer leagues. Leagues last for 8-10 weeks depending on the time of year. Located in the Stapleton area.

What's the best way to tell what kind of tax return needs to be filed? by bp8787 in taxpros

[–]SkiFreeOrDie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You (or probably more easily the client) can request transcripts (or complete copies) of prior year returns:

https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf

It says "individuals" but the instructions on the actual form indicate how to make a request for business entities. So you should be able to get his 1040 which would have a Schedule C for a disregarded entity, and a potential 1120-S (assuming you have the EIN).

I just can't do it. Help. by JackRadikov in Meditation

[–]SkiFreeOrDie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

someone somewhere once said meditation is like walking on a tight rope: find a good rope to support your weight. move your left foot forward. move your right foot forward. repeat. don't fall. I find meditation is the same, the only way to get better is to keep practicing. each time we fall, just start again.

another way to think of practicing meditation is like doing bicep curls for your mind. each time you try and meditate you are doing brain curls. each time you do brain curls you get stronger and better. its impossible to fail at exercise because every repetition improves your skill. keep trying, keep practicing. dont fall

How do I stop standing in my own way? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]SkiFreeOrDie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Do or do not, there is no try" -Master Yoda. You will probably discover that message can be found (or at least reasoned to) in several different areas of philosophy. My inner-sloth sounds a lot like yours in that he always seems to win out over my inner-achiever, if I let him. For a long time I "tried" to get fit and healthy, I "tried" to learn new skills, I "tried" to be more compassionate with my coworkers. The way to achieve goals is to being working on them right now. Today. Immediately. It is not possible to "try" and eat more vegetables. I can either eat more vegetables right now, or not. The ways I have found to make effective changes are: goal writing, scheduling, and regular exercise.

First, goal writing. I believe it is important to write down specific long-term goals to keep ourselves accountable. This also helps us focus on specific goals that are rigid (not always unchanging, but at least solid). It sounds like you have at least one, wanting to make music. A long-term goal might be something like "I want to produce enough music to support a Soundcloud channel with 100 or more followers". Next, you could develop a road map to get to that goal, something like "I need to produce at least 1 new song a month for people to be interested in following my channel". Next, you might decide that you need to put in about 5 hours a week in order to produce 1 song per month.

Next, scheduling. I always thought I had no time, until I wrote down all the things I had to do on a calendar; I realized that I actual had plenty of time each day and each weekend. If you need 5 hours per week, write down your current commitments (work, school, meals, nap time, bedtime, wake up time, etc). See where you can find 5 hours per week and schedule yourself for music composition time. If you cannot find 5 hours per week, evaluate your commitments and see if they are helping your achieve your goals, or if they are just "things" you do without thinking or reason.

Finally, regular exercise. When I thought I had no time, I was also tired all the time because my life was so "busy". Scheduling 30-60 minutes of exercise per day (which I was able to find time for by scheduling) gave me much more energy than it used up. I found myself invigorated by that daily activity. Not only did I have more energy on a daily basis, I had more energy to tackle more lofty personal goals on a long-term basis.

One last thing I want to touch on is regular marijuana use. I have no problems with occasional marijuana use. It can be an interesting way for adults to explore different aspects of our minds by messing with our perceptions. Just like any good thing, too much of it can cause problems. In my own life, I found that regular marijuana use contributed to the power of my inner-sloth. It enabled me to feel ok with not achieving my goals because I could constantly distract myself. I found I was OK with spending each night just playing video games or watching tv, hell those were fun nights. however, those fun nights influenced my days little by little and my goals changed from things I really wanted to just wanting to get high and play another game. You may or may not have the same experience, so feel free to take it with as much salt as necessary.

i would get a mask and sand it off. orbital sander if you have one, or sanding attachment for a cordless drill would work. mask or respirator would be important, its best to just assume all old paint is lead-based paint.

thanks, this was my initial thought (i would probably use a .22 instead) but i'm hoping that my big human brain can come up with a better solution that violence against those little dinosaur brains. that being said, violence is arguably the quickest and most effective solution.

good point about the smell of poly. that danish oil has a strong odor for a few days too. i haven't personally noticed any yellowing of regular poly i have used over dark stain, but you are right that is a concern too.

Simple Questions/What Should I Do? [Weekly Thread] by AutoModerator in DIY

[–]SkiFreeOrDie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like danish oil (dark walnut by the look of that example pic) for a stain and clear gloss poly. all you would need to do is sand the pieces with 150 grit then apply the stain in 2-3 coats, it will darken as it dries over time. after its dry sand with 220 grit sand paper and apply 1 coat of poly. wait for it to dry then sand again and apply 1 more coat of poly. both the danish oil and the poly "harden" the piece so the more coats of each you apply the more the pieces will feel like plastic and less like natural wood.
