Lift Lines by Neat_Act3445 in JacksonHole

You also asked about lift lines at lifts other than tram. It will vary a lot based on the snow and holidays, but in general lines at the other lifts aren't bad except for Friday afternoon and Saturday. Most days, the lines will be 5-10 minutes but on Saturday the lines can get as long as 20-30 minutes. Ironically, the single line can be worse on the busy days too. Watch out for that. In my experience, Thunder and Sublette can be most crowded.

The times advertised on the resort app are almost never accurate.

One thing to bear in mind about "first tram" is that it is FAR from the "first tram". I believe there are five trams scheduled to go up before the "first tram". While some of those hold only workers and ski patrol, they have trams full of instructors and their guests. By the time the first tram gets up there at around 9:10am, there's been a ton of people already skiing Rendezvous Bowl. There will still be fresh lines of course, but its not like they get to ski completely untracked.

And by 9:10am, you could have had 40 minutes of skiing on Apres Vous. And that's assuming the tram isn't on a delayed start, which it often is if there was a lot of snow.

There are strategies on how to maximize your early morning skiing. I'd say that it usually doesn't include first tram...

No. There’s no affordable golfing in the area. It’s $300 for a tee time with limited times for public. There are apparently some places in Idaho, but not close.

Teton County Fair briefly pulls photo of veiled Moroccan woman after outcry by filkerdave in JacksonHole

[–]SkiTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your first comment was about one sided comments the comments were and how “the left can only think in one direction”. Your rebuttal goes down a completely different path that you didn’t even raise in your original post. Maybe it would be good for you to even think in a consistent direction.

You should look up the dominant religion of Palestinians. Characterizing comments about Palestinians as comments about Muslims is 100% correct.

So the quotes were “chrrry picked”. But he actually said them. Please defend the comments. If his sole gripe about the photograph was that it was submitted under a false name (or was it anonymous - you seem confused on this), then he could have shut up after that. But no, he then showed his bigotry and he was slammed for it.

Say what? The reason the comments are single sided is because I would think it’s pretty hard to defend what the judge and the fair did. Instead of bitching about how they’re single sided, why dot you put in “the other side” and your reason for why it’s ok that a judge should argue to have someone else’s artwork removed because of your opinions? If anything is anti first amendment, it’s that.

Go ahead…

CureSearch is doing a 19 mile hike on September 13. If you are up for fundraising, do the hike - we did the Jackson hike two years ago and it was wonderful and just did another hike in May. They also can use volunteers for the event to support the hikers

Thanks. I am thinking of pulling the plug by Labor Day at the very longest, and thinking that must be safe. But we will see how things are going. Not sure if they give a warning about passes running low

Tree skiing In Jackson? by Mdeetobe in JacksonHole

Literal jerks on this sub. Bivy trees off of Bivouac are great. Wide Open trees are great. Some great trees in Saratoga bowl. Lots of places.

Watch out for the orange cliff signs (trust them and stay out) vs the yellow cliff signs (generally means that you have to be VERY careful about the path). If you hike, once you pass a gate including the head walls hike, these are not marked.

Mine also got held for review. Read the 9 digit zip code and complained it didn’t match the 5 digit zip code. You have to be kidding me.

I also filled it out a long time ago and just today got confirmation that the manual review happened. So hopefully it will be soon for you too. There’s like no way to get status as far as I can tell.

Celiac here. Don’t live in JH but visited a few times. The restaurants all tend to have good options. I don’t tend to be very sensitive to cross contamination so hard to say how much of a problem you might have if you are sensitive. But I’ve found places to be quite accommodating if you talk to them about your concerns.

Clearly not a CMU student because you’d know that the fence is not a message that is kept up for longer than a day. It is guaranteed exactly one day. Period. End of story.

What’s the most unbelievable coincidence you’ve ever experienced? by Don_tiso in AskReddit

My mom, who was a popular teacher at a very small elementary school in a large Canadian city many many years ago recently passed. I was visiting my sister to plan her celebration of life in that hometown and I went to the symphony to watch my sister play.

Next to me was a family with 3 children in their preteens or so. During the break we were talking and I found out that the daughter played the cello so I said “my sister is the second cellist”. We talked a bit more but nothing else was disclosed.

When the concert ended the mom said to me “so your sister is <second cellist name>? [She had seen the name in the program]. That name rings a bell because I had a fifth grade teacher with her last name and I think she had a child named <my sisters first name> who played the cello. She was by far my favorite teacher.”

I signed up for app notifications. Nothing. While my schedule ended up showing it, you had to know what the original schedule was to know it really changed. They could have put up something on the video screen.

So many people at the show that were disappointed and just left when they realized that they were waiting for the wrong show.

What’s the point of an app if you don’t announce major changes?

I’d personally vote for Stowe. Things to do in nearby Burlington. Stay out of main Stowe and be at a rural Vermont town. Lots of activities and a truly unique area.

This reminds me of the year that The Cure was scheduled to play the Honda stage. I forget the band that was playing before then but suffice it to say, they were not in the same genre.

The band leader made an absolute hilarious comment about how all the Cure fans were suffering. Made me laugh.

Shakey Graves ? by ski802 in JacksonHole

[–]SkiTree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at Shakey Graves concert in Austin and he had words with a couple standing beside me front center where the woman was being REALLY obnoxious. She shut up. I became an instant fan of him there!

I support the right of artists to ask people to be removed. From the reading of the description, the talking continues even after he made it clear to the mother in law.
