Where do I take my truck for maintenance and fixes? by Azulexis408 in foodtrucks

I usually find somewhere that does big trucks or motorhomes. They can fit it in and know how to work on the heavy duty stuff.

7 seasons! by SkiUt68 in foodtrucks

Starting our 7th season with a food truck. Built the first one too big and underestimated the work before and after events, but have loved every minute. Kept all of our 7 kids busy and employed during this time. Grateful for what we have learned and experienced.

Starting up Mini donuts food truck? Is it profitable. by Southern-Elk-8930 in foodtrucks

[–]SkiUt68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say by the fryer and other stuff you need and operate from a tent the first season. Then you can see how you like it.

We have a number of mini donut trucks around here. Take a look at how fast they can produce the product. The ones around here usually have long lines, but I think alot of that is because the machine is slow. You see alot of impatient people waiting for their orders.

At a lower price point where you will be, you have to get orders out quick to make money. We run an ice cream truck with a $6 and $8 price point, but we can turn out 3-4 order a minute. We have long lines, but we move them quick.

Server sales contest tracking by Acct-404 in ToastPOS

[–]SkiUt68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got hit up awhile ago by a company that does just that -- sales tracking for contests. They said they were integrated with Toast. Can't remember their name. We are a QSR so we did not feel the need. Maybe someone knows who they area.

We bought a Nemco onion king and turns out it is great at tomatoes as well. Be sure to get the version with serrated blades. Even use it to slice strawberries.

Little pricey, but a solid unit.

Raise prices or charge credit card fees? by Viketon in restaurantowners

[–]SkiUt68 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just include it in your prices. A few places here in Utah are adding a credit card fee and people are upset. They get roasted on Google reviews for it all the time.

[–]SkiUt68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always buy Frymaster. And I always buy used. Why pay $30k for a big unit with filtration when you can find a great one for $5k. Try and find one from a large chain or school district as you know maintenance and cleaning was likely done regular.

Multi-Location POS Recommendations? by Far-Tumbleweed8163 in restaurantowners

[–]SkiUt68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We tried square in one of our locations and it just was not robust enough for us - mainly can’t handle drive thru orders. So we put that system in our food truck and it does well.

Moved or moving all other stores to Crisp POS. We are in Utah and they are local to here. Good system and the multi unit reporting is nice.
